I feel a bit for Lewis Hall as I expected him to kick on & make the left back spot his own. Great chance for Lewis-Skelly I would imagine.

I think Wharton is brilliant & I wanted him alongside Rice last summer.

    Pickford, Henderson, Pope

Trent, Livramento, Lewis-Skelly, Mitchell, Stones, Konsa, Guehi, Branthwaite

    Rice, Wharton, Gallagher, Bellingham, Jones

    Palmer, Foden, Rogers, Gordon, Grealish

    Kane, Watkins

I think I've heard of Wharton but no idea who he plays for.

Never heard of the other 3.

I wish he was elsewhere and playing every week. That’s my only concern. But yeah, I like a ball carrier and he’s very good at it. He grafts too.

Thing is, if it’s not him, then I’m more than happy with Foden, Gordon, Eze, Rogers etc. And obviously, once fit you’d pick Saka with Madueke in the running too.

    Great pool of talent.

With you all day on Wharton. There’ll be loads who haven’t seen lots of him. The lad is frighteningly good. Would add great balance too.

I would have had Hall over Mitchell but the injury has ruined that, and a cup final this weekend. Plenty of time ahead of him though.

    Palace.

They’ve about five or six who you’d have in the squad potentially. The club I like watching the most this season.

Gerwyn Price is possibly the single most odious character in any sport anywhere in the world.

I generally like the unfancied/unpopular characters and he’s a great arrowsmith but dear me he’s a proper thundercunt

I met Gerwyn a couple of months ago through a mutual friend, chance encounter. Seemed a down to earth bloke, family man, quite a reserved fella which surprised me. I’ve always liked watching him play because he’s great at darts and brings entertainment to the stage.

If you know or feel different, fair enough I suppose. Wouldn’t be the first time my favourite sportsmen were deemed bad people!

I love my darts. It needs its characters. I’ve had a few legs against Joe Cullen too, he’s from these parts and he seems another decent bloke.
I only average 50 on my best days so I didn’t even get a shot at a double sadly. Plenty of 26’s though. :D

Was tough watching them play each other at the worlds. But nice this week that one won on the pro tour and the other the premier league.

Yeah, but is he likely to make Tuchel's squad?

It’s a game I love to both watch and play but I’ve never been any good at it really, as the holes that resemble a bad case of woodworm on the back door out of the kitchen at my house will attest to… Always played though. My nanna had a board up at her house when I was a kid in a cabinet disguised by a picture. Eighties-tastic. I was throwing proper darts from a very young age; think Luke Littler but with absolutely no talent.

My 17 year old routinely tears me a new one these days. To the point I’ll generally only regularly play 101 with him now as 301/501 is pretty much a waste of time unless he misses six or nine at double or I happen to be throwing unusually well (generally means I’ve had a few sherbets the rare times it happens).

He did get pissed off the other week when I took out 101 in two darts twice in one night though. Reckons I was just winding him up even attempting the bull and I should have split the fifty. He still reckons the first treble 17 was just a misthrown dart at twenties. Even I’m not that bad!

The second one he got a proper cob on! Wouldn’t mind but they were two of only four legs of 101 I beat him, of probably 20; and he whitewashed me over five legs of 301 too. He’s not bad to be fair. He’s taken out 501 in thirteen darts a fair few times, yet to get down to four visits but he’ll get there. He gets 180’s pretty often. I’ve only ever got four.

I quite like getting 26’s, it means I’m throwing relatively straight…

My darts claims to fame are meeting Dennis Priestley loads of times and once throwing with/against him as a kid in a working men’s in Bentley on a quadro board; and one I don’t actually remember but apparently there’s photos that appeared in the press and some darting magazine/catalogue - Big Cliff Lazarenko did some kind of open/greet at InterSport in Donny mid eighties; he picked three year old Troffer up, gave me some darts and showed me how to throw. My nanna has still got the set of darts he gave me somewhere nearly forty years later - she was a big fan in that era and she used the darts when she played in the ladies league at York Bar. She was the only player with tungsten, the rest all had big fat brass monstrosities. Sadly she was as crap as me!

Back to Price, he’s a strange one. It’s like he’s playing a character. Wind up merchant in the game, shithousery and antics to get into his opponents head - and then in the interview afterwards blew that much smoke up Littler’s arse the first five rows all got stoned! Just can’t warm to him. Though I was happy that he beat Van Gerwen.

I’d love to see Bunting win a few games. Seems a really top, normal fella and he’s far too good a player to not have won a match so far. Asp needs to show he’s worthy of being there for more than just letting the crowd sing Mr Brightside too - I’d love to see him get past the dartitis and win a tv title.

I’d also like to see Beau Greaves win summat in the pdc ranks - she’s a bit older but went to school with my lad, both primary (Richmond Hill) and secondary (Ridgewood). She’s got the game to compete against anyone on her day - arguably could do with knuckling down and kicking on. Her older brother is more than decent as well.

He’s a Welsh retired rugby player but I’d probably have him in the squad before some that will be …

I will take the hint to take it back to football though. I wouldn’t select Trafford; he’s a bit lightweight for me, reminds me of Meslier at Leeds. Pickford, Henderson, Ramsdale for
    me.

Missing stones and Maguire so the central defenders will come from Guehi, Konsa, Branthwaite, Colwill - hopefully Tomori.

Plenty of right backs to pick, left back tougher. The kid Lewis-Skelly at Arsenal probably. I’d be selecting Ben White if he wants to be selected. Doesn’t matter what happened before.

I’d have a look at Archie Gray and the lad Gittens at Dortmund.

Toss up between Wharton or Angel Gomes to play alongside Rice and Bellingham.

Pick whichever wingers you want; got an abundance of those and to be fair there’s arguments for all of them, they’re all good players.

Kane, Watkins as the centre forwards. Liam
Delap maybe - he’d do well at a better side than Ipswich I feel.

Few of the Forest boys deserve a look, Gibbs-White, Anderson; did Hudson-Odoi change allegiance to Ghana or is he still England qualified?

I don’t think Tuchel will be too experimental; he’s not here for the long term.

    Enjoyed reading that.

I watch a bit of Bunting on YouTube, and Mardle as I like the tips and stuff. They both seem good eggs too. Bunting keeps finding a way to lose, it’s weird. As for Greaves, it was only the other week when she pushed Humphries close. She’s a joke on the women’s tour isn’t she? Keeps picking up the odd win on the pro tour too. Matter of time I reckon before she’s a fixture in the latter stages of the big events.

Loads and loads of young talent he can call upon. The likes of Grealish and Walker should be nowhere near the squad as it stands. Walker has been awful for about 2 years now and Grealish just can't nail down a spot, though he is a talent and would love to see him play like he did when he was at Villa. Lewis has been poor city so I'd avoid him too.

Elliot Anderson, Bynoe-Gittens, Wharton, Lewis Hall, Lewis-skelly, Gibbs white, Nwaneri, Archie Grey should all be very very close to a call up. Callum Hudson-Odoi should be getting a look in too. Lewis Miley from Newcastle and especially Mikey Moore from Spurs would be quite interesting to see in the next couple of years too. Loads more great young talent coming through!

No idea about injuries etc, all depends on those obviously. But would love to see these types of players integrated into the squad.

I like greasy Jack (Grealish) but he's obviously going nowhere with Man City, and he needs a move.
I wonder if he could do a good job for ManUre instead, at least he wouldn't have to move houses.
