One particular quote which stands out to me. “There’s a lot of things that have gone on behind the scenes that not everyone knows about.” https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...ayers-must-take-some-of-the-blame-this-season
"He was obviously the set-piece coach under Darrell Clarke and I think under set-pieces we’ve done quite well"
I picked up on that in his interview with Radio Sheffield. I wonder if Clarke has maybe said something he shouldn’t have done (in Mladen’s opinion). I thought Hourihane’s interview was decent and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do for these couple of months.
Once you slag off the players in public its the beginning of the end, very rarely does it result in them turning it around. So even if its true, you have to keep it out of the press.
If Clarke as teld em some home truth then good on him, It's least them players deserved with some performances this season. If the team now starts to play then it obviously the players that were cheating us fans..
We're middle of the table on goals scored from set pieces so I guess we're by definition, OK at them.
I think O'Keefe pilfered someone's football boots and shin pads then told Mladen he was a footballer.
Time will tell but I don’t think who is in charge will really make any difference to the most average bunch of Barnsley players I can recall in the past 15 yrs.
Definately. I do remember us scoring from a few well taken ones, but we do lack a few goals from headers.
Are we really at the point where a manager is doomed, if he comes out and says the players’ performance wasn’t good enough? Neill Collins protected the players to the hilt. The fans hammered him for not being honest. And he got sacked as well. Football fans have very short memories.
Agreed. Even though Roberts gave the interview he did, I can’t imagine the players were too thrilled by the comments.
Surely you can say that about every team though? I’d say out of our central defenders, there’s probably only Pines that looks a threat. Maybe Roberts. They’re all okay at winning clearance headers in their own half but not so much attacking headers. Earl and MDG don’t ever look like getting on the end of a corner and heading it in. (This is me talking in MDG doing exactly this tomorrow).
I think it helps we've had pines Roberts and earl attacking them so we've scored a few with headers. We've scored a few well taken ones think dkd. We've also conceded through some shocking ones Huddersfield at home. Hit and miss really.
