I've seen nothing of the game today or read anything from the match day thread (sue me), but I think I'm right in thinking that we can dip into the emergency loan market for a keeper if Smith is out injured, as Flavell has started less than 5 professional games (once in the JPTPizzaVanwindows trophy I believe).

Should be able to - though with our recent goalkeeper arrivals, I think I'd just stick to Flavell and throw yet another baby on the bench...:)

I wouldn't be against it, mate. Though as I say, I've not seen anything of the game today. Though Flavell's injury record isn't particularly great either by all accounts.

I do wonder if there's any point.

Yeah he's had some big injuries, one he was almost out for 10 months iirc. However, since there's nothing to play for, I'd definitely keep Flavell in goal. It'd be okay with getting someone cheap on loan to cover him if anyone else from our academy isn't placed on the bench, but I was impressed with him today.

I was going to try and be smart and suggest we play with a false number one but then you could argue we have all season o_O

Thought Flavell did well today didn’t really deserve what happened at the end and bar one or two iffy kicks was good at everything else but then considering we have a spineless team probably not the best to expose him to it’s weaknesses and ruin the start of his career.

I think it's the perfect time, mate. Nowt to play for whatsoever. No pressure on him, he can just play & gain experience.

I had a Google before, he was out for over a year, though I don't use twitter so I couldn't see what with. The season's gone, so there's no harm in giving him some experience at all.

    Lol.

Seriously though, let Flavell play, stick another young un on bench. We've nowt to play for anymore.

Unless we can get one with no wage contribution it would just be a waste of money.

Oh so even longer than I remembered! Haven't spoke with him or his brother for a couple of years, but really nice lads who love the club - would be brilliant if he can make it in the pro game.

He should be really proud of his performance today, one bright spot in a dire outing.

Loved how quickly he came off his line mate, like Collins. Really impressive considering the situation he was thrown into! Should be very proud indeed.

Sormaz has identified Gabriel Martin. Plays for Dijon. He has the most catches in the league apparently.

Unfortunately, he failed to notice they're a cricket club.

    Flavell MOM for me.

Keep him in until EOS. It’s the least worry of our squad currently.

I don't think we should waste cash on a 7th different keeper. Flavell did well when he came back and Gauci should be back shortly.

Suffered back to back ACL injuries.

Really good kid and a huge Reds fan. I think he came out of the latest disaster with some credit.

And I would let him keep the gloves. And send back each of the loanees and stop including anyone we don’t intend on retaining. Nothing to play for. Start planning for next season.

I’d say just give Flavell the gig now. The season’s gone, there isn’t a better time to give him some first team experience.

Flavell did well I thought. Like a young Brad Collins with his sweeper keeper duties.

I’m guessing Smith will be out for at least a little bit, maybe even a while. Anyone know what Gauci is doing? Assuming he’s back at Villa?

I wouldn’t be against going with Flavell but I think we will probably bring someone in.
