He was great for Italy in Euro 2020, had a bad time with injuries since.

Your bitterness knows no limits. Newcastle, of all clubs, given their history, deserve their moment. Sportswashing ? Dan Burn local hero?

    Get a fu...cking grip

I think you can separate the two things.

You can be pleased for their fans, whilst being disgusted when their owner lifts the trophy.

I get a lot of criticism if I support the Glazers, but the fact is they’re really decent people.

"They’re East Coast, you know — that old East Coast America, they’re very polite, they’re very civilized, they’re the nicest people on the planet.

    Glazers staying ten more years......

Are you Barnsley fan at all or just come on here to spout man city rhetoric?

    It’s a bit strange.

Liverpool have never have won four leagues in a row. They probably won’t ever either. They did win 8 in twelve seasons from 79-90 though; the first one they didn’t win, 81 - they won the European cup instead. And the league champions that year won the European cup the following year. They then lost out to Everton twice - though were second each time - and then lost the league to Arsenal in 89 on goals scored, having identical points and goal difference, and having played the last few games of the league in the shadow of what happened at Hillsborough. It was a prolonged period of dominance - including a treble of league, European cup and league cup in 1984.

Man City have achieved a hell of a lot in the last 10-15 years but they are a million miles away from having the overall success of Liverpool - or the mob from the other side of Manchester.

City are also having a relatively shocking season.

I’ve no idea why you feel the need to crow because Liverpool lost against a strong Newcastle performance. They are going to win the league, probably at a canter - and in Slot’s first season, something Pep didn’t manage.

I am happy for the Newcastle lot though. I agree about that. Dads side of the family are from up that way on, lot of fans in the family - they’ll all be delighted. (Though bizarrely my dad was a Liverpool fan with Newcastle as a definite second team - he’d have been conflicted a bit today I reckon were he still around as I reckon he’d gladly sacrifice a league cup for Newcastle to have their moment). Overdue success, and Eddie Howe deserves it too.

Really enjoyed it, they've been some boring finals over the years. I thought Eddie outthought Arne there today.

    Sounded like a brilliant atmosphere.

Just back in Camden from the match, best LC final for ages, Liverpool, as usual, just thought they only had to turn up but Newcastle gave them a proper spanking, Dan Burn head & shoulders above the rest, literally and metaphorically! Lots of scousers had left before they scored, apparently many them weren’t bothered about the poxy carabao cup, despite having spent quite a lot of time and money being there.

Although I'm moderately happy for the Newcastle fans, I've got to concur with Mansfield Red.

A murderous evil regime that is assisting with the pollution of our planet, who lied about state involvement to counter flimsy governance rules to own that football club, have applied their first coat of black and white sport wash.

And it's being largely met with glee.

    As a civilisation, we're screwed.

While ever our government continues to have dealings with the Saudi’s then as far as I’m concerned football teams, boxers, F1 drivers, musicians etc should be able to accept their money.

If the Government takes a stand then the rest can follow.

And let’s have it right there’s probably the majority of people on here who voted for either the Tories in 2019 or Labour in 2024.

If you did then the party you voted for has supported a genocide. Little kids have been blown to bits & burned to death due to weapons & support from the Government you voted for.

As a country we are in no place to lecture others.

Also no different than people buying and wearing Nike and other brands being made via slavery. Or Disney going full hog for gay/minority rights, and then when advertising in China removing every aspect of it, including removing and/or changing black/brown from the cover etc.

And our consumer decisions should be made accordingly. While being frank that it's unbelievably difficult to make every decision based on morality and values, it shouldn't stop us calling out what is wrong.

A murderous regime that is helping to destroy our planet while using a football club to sportwash is clearly grim. I don't think we should be shy in saying that.
