We could go back to signing stand out players from the league below, ideally young players who will get better with experience. Or we could just sign has been, never beens and never will he's. Not sure what data he's used to recruit this lot especially when some of the signings had little game time prior to coming here but whatever his computer is well and truly broken.
I think the challenge is the last time we got promoted from league one we were able to buy players (admittedly not all at the same time) like hourihane, winnall, scowen. But now those same signings would be getting on for a million each. So we’re having to take more risks which means less hits.
They weren’t the last team that got us promoted from this league. You’re forgetting the Stendel team.
There lies the problem pal. DKD was a stand out player from league below, and cost us £750k and £6k a week (or thereabouts). Stand out means exactly that - every other club knows and so does the player and his agent. And that then means ££££££s. Mental really from League 2, but that’s football today……. Each of these below would probably be the same apart from McGoldrick - but he’ll be on some weekly coin!
Instead of sacking him and having to pay him up. Demote him back to data analyst due to his poor performance in his current role (there's plenty of evidence of that on display) then reduce his pay to a level that reflects his new role and responsibilities and if he doesn't like it he can always tender his resignation.
Dan or Don? MEMORANDUM TO: Everyone. And I mean EVERYONE. FROM: The Desk of Tremendous Deals. SUBJECT: Barnsley FC - We're Gonna Make it HUGE! Listen folks, Barnsley. Barnsley FC. A great club. Historically, very, very important. But, and this is a big but, they've been, frankly, losing. Losing! And we can't have that. We need winners. We need to win big! * The Problem: * These losses, they're terrible. Just terrible. The worst. Believe me. * We need a new strategy. A winning strategy. The best strategy. * We need to get the fans back. They love winning, and we will provide winning. * The Solution: * We're going to get the best players. The absolute best. We're going to make deals, tremendous deals. * We need a manager who knows how to win. A winner. A fantastic winner. * We will fill the stadium. Oakwell will be packed. We will have the best attendance. * We are going to make Barnsley FC Great Again! * The Bottom Line: * We're going to win. We're going to win so much, you're going to get tired of winning. * Barnsley will be a powerhouse. Everyone will know Barnsley. It's going to be fantastic. Believe me. Thank you.
Not convinced he would be in a similar contract to a footballer or manager, wouldn’t he just be like another employee in any other job?
From what I understand reading of other clubs moving this type of employee on at his level they go with a golden handshake. Which is basically compensation for his contract. Love to be proved wrong then we can sack him without compo..brilliant
Demote him on the grounds of not being competent in his current role, lets face it there's plenty of evidence running round pretending to be footballers every match day.
Has he got a fixed term contract then? Genuine question as not seen anything saying he has. Like Stairfoot said if they can demonstrate not done his job then should be straight forward if not on a fixed contract. edit https://www.onsidelaw.co.uk/news-up...ctor contracts, range of grounds for dismissal).
Yes I agree, I was listening to the posh chairman on talks port before the january window he basically said every clubs got wise to recruiting how posh and us used to recruit young players from lower leagues and it's obviously pushed up player values and made it alot harder to do. What I don't get is all those years ago Patrick recruited with data conor was top of the assists chart in league 2, winnall top scorer, scowern was hitting high on winning the ball back, mawson had a great spell on loan at Wycombe where he was hitting high on that analysis. Patrick even put his own money in the back his plan. The current crop I wouldn't back with 50p of my own money and I'm not sure what data analysis they were topping for us to bring them here maybe time laid horizontal on a football field, or most times dispossessed. Just shocking recruitment. Only plus side is many will be gone this summer.
Yep, As it says "Negotiate minimum liability " .We would hope a top 6 finish was agreed but if Avoiding relegation was the basic or a top ten finish as minimum we cant sack him till the season ends, even then he could be safe. sack him before and we'll have to pay his termination settlement.
Yeah that’s right. I think Mladen mentioned this on one of the open evenings. The fact that the young/lower league lads are no longer a secret in England. Therefore scouring other places like MLS and French Leagues were the new place to go.
Judging by the general failure of English managers/coaches, it makes me wonder if the FA coaching badges are worth a light.
