Why? Flavell did fine on Saturday. It's not like we have anything to play for, as the players confirmed with their lack of effort at the weekend. I'm hoping to see some experimentation from Hourihane, not the same old stuff we've seen all season, as happened when Devaney has previously had a chance.
Do we have back up to Flavell as a keeper for on bench? Is what's left too young to be brought in? Flavell looked decent to me, so no problem with him getting the gig for the foreseeable anyways
Had a crazy weekend so only seen the goals. I didn't realise Smith got injured... A bad one? If we're bringing in another keeper, it feels like another case of largesse. Play Flavell, put a kid on the bench, or get Hassell out of retirement. Can we stop absolutely p*ssing away money when there is no need to do so!
So we need a keeper! the DoF will bring a tall winger in who once went in goal for the last ten minutes of a U12 academy game when the proper keeper got injured and they'd used all the subs. The DoF will say he's a keeper we've been watching for ages and be proved wrong in about 20 seconds by somebody on here just searching the players career stats
Pretty sure Ravenhill is injured, out for the season, so just Hayton available, which should suffice until next week when he or Flavell gets injured.
That sounds like a plan. Then the person with the lowest squad number gets the shirt, and we work our way through the team for the last few games.
Didn't see the game Sat, but going off ehats been said on here Flavell had a decent game? He looks a very tall lad.
Dear Kieren, congratulations on making your league debut. The fans thought you did well and you must be thrilled you've had a chance in the first team. To motivate you to do even better, we're going to bring in an emergency loan, somebody who's overrated from the Premier League and we'll have to fork out a loan fee and decent wages for. But don't worry, you'll learn so much watching him as you're getting splinters in your bum. Don't worry, we know how to bring on our goalkeepers, just ask Killip, we did a great job with him. And to be honest, given our very important hopes of finishing 11th, we just think we need someone who has played less competitive football than you. Yours sincerely, the lunatics pretending to run Barnsley Football Club.
He did nothing wrong, had no chance with the winning goal. Made a couple of decent saves and his kicking was ok too. As you say he’s a big lad so has a bit of presence about him. He’s 21, which is older than some of the loans we’ve had. Deserves his chance I’d say but it’ll be the lack of backup that’s the problem.
