In a world where nothing has any costs to it then I agree. In reality when the increased rent that the club now pays to least the ground is what is paying for this then I completely disagree. It is benefitting a handful of spectators - a handful of spectators who have already increased our costs by previous bad behaviour and resulted in multiple fines, threat of ground closure and higher stewarding costs. Costs which will rise once the safe standing area is implemented too by the way. If there is only a certain budget available for improving the matchday experience then it should be spent in a way that benefits the most people and brings in the highest revenue. It shouldn't be spent for the benefit of 500 people who routinely get the club in trouble as it is.
The majority of people in that area are those who cause trouble. Unless they are all being evicted for 500 other fans to take their place then predominantly it will be them who benefit.
Why, back in the day, everyone stood. It was great, everyone loved the matchday”experience “ You couldn’t give seating away?
Well to that I have a couple of points. It isn't "back in the day", back in the day everyone loved the match day experience of someone blowing smoke in your face and pissing against a wall too. But the main point is that we are installing 500 seats in an area that has a fair few season ticket holders, it will benefit them and a few more. It won't benefit the majority regardless of if a guy in the east upper enjoys standing or not because it isn't going there.
It's a fair point though isn't it. We're spending allegedly 500k on improvements that will only benefit a small section of the crowd. Said section is made up of the majority of the brainiacs who chant about JAQ, sing about Bambo's ****, get chucked out every now and then, love singing about the Pope and the IRA, and love getting on the sniff. Why couldn't this 500k be put towards an improved Fan Zone that would benefit all home supporters?
