I won't be browbeaten. I'm a male. Not a cis male. I'm not terrified of anything, certainly not in this sphere of conversation.

I don't think you can change your gender.

Some of you guys do, great. Keep on thinking it. I choose not to think it. I'm allowed to hold that opinion.

What I find interesting is the tone some people take, who claim to be kind, liberal people when they hear a point of view opposed to their own.

Instead of just accepting a different point of view, they call people brain-dead, or try and goad them by saying things like "you're terrified..."

    So much for tolerance, eh?

I don't care what anyone "identifies" as. I really don't. Live and let live I say, it's a shame that that isn't reciprocated.

Chemistry term for an isomer, weirdly appropriated for gender debates because it’s opposite to “trans”

The idea for a poll was mentioned in a different thread by someone else. There was a general wondering if there were more women on here than people thought as it is generally assumed that most posters are men if they have not previously stated. It wasn’t meant to be controversial or a deep and meaningful discussion on gender ideology.

Actually it’s a latin term meaning “the same side as”.

So meaning gender the same as assigned at birth. It’s really nothing controversial in the slightest.

I never said it was controversial just bizarre to use Latin nomenclature that’s usually reserved for fatty acids.

Exactly. And I only included those terms and a description because I knew there were people who genuinely are trans on this bbs and I didn't want to exclude them and genuinely wanted to know if there are many who are.

I understand that you don't have much truck with the nomenclature, but it sounds a lot to me like you identify as male.

    Nobody is "browbeating" you.

Just trying to explain that a CIS Male is exactly what you're describing.

You're a CIS Male. You were born Male. You identify as Male.

You're kicking up a stink and ranting about 3 letters - that if you did a simple Google search, would clearly explain it to you.

You say that it's usually reserved for that but it's been used to refer to gender/sex for over 200 years

It actually means 'this side of' and 'the other side of'. Which is why it's appropriate for use in describing molecular structures.

Incidentally, chemists not realising the existence of two isomers in the thalidomide drug is what led to all the birth defects. One isomer (R-thalidomide) is a sedative, whilst the other one (S-thalidomide) is teratogenic.

Tyketical Masterstroke, always teaching you divs on here something.

That’s a stretch, particularly when even the fúcking Wikipedia page says “coined in 1994”. I was only on here to talk about isomers, I’ll let you get back to bigot-baiting

That's right. Male. Nothing more, nothing less. Just as 50% of the population has identified as since time immemorial.

It really isn't that deep in my opinion. People believe a certain thing is possible and therefore requires definition, I don't think it really exists and therefore I don't wish to participate in the use of that particular language.

Just in the same way I don't run around telling children that Santa isn't real at Christmas, or stealing their pound coins from under their pillows as the tooth fairy doesn't really come. It's not hurting anyone. No big deal.

When it does start to hurt people, and by that I mean in the form of compelled speech (See Canada). Then it becomes a problem.

I'm off out now...not stealing pound coins... But I've said all I can say on this topic.

Genuinely wish no ill on anyone. COYR.

Whether you are right or not, that's a stonking riposte.

Anyway , CIS is no longer appropriate. It's the Royal London now.

It’s not taking a chemistry term and using it for something new, it’s 2 words both using the same latin prefix.

Colours are only red blue or yellow. I can’t be doing with this woke nonsense like “cyan” or “navy” or “maroon”.

Let’s go back to just using gods own primary colours.
