Apologies if this as been posted earlier. Cambridge fan who as recently died. Apparently went to a game and got beaten up by opposite fans . Would be decent of us to join them . I can't remember where I read it . I'm sure someone will share the link.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0q1v1xqklxo.amp He passed away five years ago and Cambridge fans are going to sing for him. Awful story.
I had forgot the story as it was over a week ago when I read it. The link shared describes in more detail than I had read. Horrific event ,and on reading that ,made it so much more awful ,and i know full well the Oakwell faithful will take part too. My thoughts will be with everyone on the 10th minute .
I can recall it happening at the time. Apparently a rivalry had developed between certain factions of their support for some reason. What sort of sentences did the assailant get?
I beleive that CPS are now looking at this again since he died , as a murder charge ,the have 4 names
I don’t think I’ve ever been at a game at which there have been so many people joining in applause for an opposing supporter. There was clearly widespread understanding in the crowd about what it was for and I thought the Reds fans were a credit to themselves.
Last time I remember it like that (and more actually) was when it was for a really young kid who had died. Can’t remember the match though.
That's really nice to hear . We're a good bunch in the main at Oakwell. It goes a long way for the family members.
