I know but you must have had an inkling! Try something a bit less toxic next time, like Brexit or Thatcher.

The irony that this poll was supposedly created to see how many women were on the board!

Genuinely no. It was just a genuine question but I didn't want to be a dick and make the few trans people on here feel excluded.

The poll saying cis female actually does go in your favour in this case. Anyone who was born male and wishes to identify as female will select transgender and only people who were born female will select female. If the poll only had two options, male and female (or man and woman) a person who was born male and now identifies as a woman would have selected female. The current poll gives natural born women (and men) their own representation without mixing them in with transgender people.

Whilst this is a really good and reasoned post, I do think a point is being missed and that some of the arguments are a tad misplaced in this conversation.

Nowhere on this thread has anyone brought up trans rights in terms of use of toilets, changing rooms. Certainly not sport.

There is a huge issue with allowing pre-operative trans women into female spaces. I do not agree with anyone who argues against that.

Similarly, I don’t see how anyone who completed puberty as a male can be allowed to compete in women’s sport - certainly any in which physicality gives an edge. Any woman who completed male puberty - and there are women who did - shouldn’t be in competitive women’s sport. It’s unfair and quite probably dangerous.

Some differ in that, and i’d gladly have that conversation, but that for me was never the point of the thread or this conversation. It’s a different issue altogether. As for a double rapist deciding they are female, and being allowed into a woman’s prison whilst still having fully functional male genitalia - I’d be amazed if anybody would advocate for that to be right.

But none of that was what was being asked here. Purely and simply it asked about gender - with some people refusing to accept the use of the term ‘cis’, and some refusing to accept the concept of a gender which isn’t your genetic sex at birth.

I did find it a little bizarre that there was only one trans option on the poll I’ll agree there - I’d consider that more of an oversight than anything with more sinister connotation, but if you have cis male and female then trans male and female ought to have been there.

No, sorry, you’ll have to show me where there’s any irony there.

Tbf it's a shame there's been a few transphobic replies, but it is what it is.

You're correct, it was an oversight. I don't claim to be an expert on genders or anything like that and I wanted to keep it as simple as possible, ironically that was to try to not look 'woke' and come across as listing 50 million genders because I didn't want to antagonise anyone

Me neither. The same people on here bang on about science and how religion isn't real. Well science is there's 2 genders male or female.

Whilst I’m not shocked to read such a post from yourself, I feel compelled to point out that science in fact does not say any such thing.

In fact highly qualified and senior biologists have produced many papers hypothesising on the differentiation of gender, speculating on things like sexual organ generation during gestation, the differentiation of brain types leading to female brains being born with male genitalia and vice versa; to things like societal and social issues from birth and upbringing, via chemical imbalances/differences which have been discovered in trans individuals when actually studying the causes of neurodivergences.

    Read some of it.

Maybe if you stopped your scientific learning at 15 you’d be correct.

If you look at actual scientific studies you’d find that you’re not correct at all, but they have words longer than 1 or 2 syllables so i doubt you’d be interested. Best to stick to the basics.

Er...... Can we all be friends now? Some people may have got upset with the name-calling. There may be some mental health issues out there folks. Nothing wrong with debate and education but it should be civilised. I apologised to someone on here the other day for being a tad over-aggressive myself. I know people can get worked up (I do cos I know I'm always right :)) but we should all TRY not to insult... shouldn't we?

Your genetic sex at birth isn’t necessarily your gender.

But then I’m probably wasting my time trying to bother - given you repeatedly show you don’t have much command of your mother tongue - you lack the ability to differentiate between your and you’re in written English - much as you can’t differentiate been and being.

Your lack of understanding of the actual science here is actually to be expected. But there’s time. Educate yourself.

I’d delete this…. Not just because of the very poor grasp of gender, but the spelling made my eyeball itch…

You seem to be arguing with a few on here maybe you have some issues. Just was unsure what cis meant before the male or female apologise if it came across ignorant.
