You make it sound like bliss under Cryne. He ran any remaining expectancy and ambition out of the club. Be thankful we have a club. Be thankful for what? It's been a different shade of 5 hit e for 23 years.
I would love a breakdown of where and why the club is losing £750,000 a month. I'm not disputing it. Just can't fathom how that's happened.
I didn't say that. I just said we were in a far better position under Cryne than we are now. That's all I've said. I never said he's the greatest owner ever, or that all his decisions were perfect. Any particular reason you seem to hate him so much?
I don't get it either, but it's been told to us by Neerav and JAQ (I think), so it's surely true. If its not, I can't see what the positives are in saying it - it just makes them look bad. We've been in this league now for three seasons, but I can't recall anyone mentioning our financial woes in the other two. It's weird.
The squad is far too big costing a fortune. I bet we are paying most of Shephard, Lopata, Dallas, Lofthouse, Marsh's wages. We have lots of U21's and U18's to pay, it all mounts up, plus topping up the academy costs from the Premier league payment will be huge, Patrick said it was a million a season years ago. I don't get why we have an academy manager when we have a DOF.
Psychology. When it's going well on the pitch the fickle football fan doesn't see owt else. Happens from the top to the bottom.
Equates to £9 million which I believe might be the diference in monies received from the league re Championship and league 1 status. Not saying thats the main reason but our current wage bill is reputed to be around £7 million which would equate to bottom of Championship if what I have read is true. Do we owe any Covid loan monies and are we still paying back what is owed to Crynes?
Excellent post. Let's stop signing players to loan out because they aren't ready. We aren't premium Chelsea. Bravo.
Sorry I don't follow. We won the JPT and got promoted before Cryne sold the club. Obviously the promotion under Stendel was afterwards, but I don't understand the point about the JPT.
People conveniently forget the criticism under Cryne about length of contracts (typically 2 years) and buy out clauses. And the data driven recruitment by James Cryne. We’ve addressed the contract issue by offering 3 and 4 year deals but have seen the downside by being stuck with players who either aren’t good enough or injured. Recruitment has been worse too and those combined have contributed to our financial position.
It’s definitely not purely based on footballers and wages. We’ve had bigger squads and bigger salaries. Also, I’ve seen you reference the academy a few times now. Has something happened to upset you there?
I think that's harsh mate, oversaw 2 promotions, 3 Wembley trips and put 2 pots in the cabinet, whilst we couldnt compete at the top end of the championship and had many struggles then yes compared to now he ran us a damn sight better, we certainly weren't hemorrhaging 8m a year.
The point is we shouldn't have been in that situation to start with. Wining the JPT isn't an achievement it's admitting you're crap.
Seen it referenced somewhere can't remember but think it's 5.35m this season, would imagine they'll want to get this to the 4m mark.
Unless wages have gone up by 40% there is no way on this earth the club are losing £9m pa. Accounts for year ending June 2024 are out in the next week and that will show operating losses for that year. Not sure an awful lot has changed to the current year. Operating losses are before any transfer activity profit which will have been significant in 2023/24.
You genuinely seem bitter towards PC when he was the guy who saved us from extinction if memory serves right
Other than 1 season in the top division in 138 years there's equally nothing to suggest we should be on that boat, but to keep the club on relatively sound financial footing compared to now and deliver 11 seasons out of 15 in the championship isn't exactly a poor period in our history. The current owners have spent 4 seasons in 7.5 years in league 1 and left us financially crippled. All opinions of course but I think you are being incredibly harsh.
No he didn't. There was another consortium that were gazumped on a technicality if we're being factual.
