I'd go with a 4231, I've spoken previously the options this gives teams to switch without it being clunky 4141, 451, 433, 442, 4132. New keeper (not a loan) Flavell as NO:2 New RB New LB Roberts CB Shepherd CB Connell CDM Nwakali CDM Jalo LW DKD CAM New RW New Striker. OUT Pines Cosgrove Benson Humphrys Lewis Rodrigues Lembikisa Gauci Marsh SELL Phillips BUY 2 x Strikers 1x RB 1 x LB 2 x Wide players 1 x Keeper KEEP Russell Smith MDG Gent Farrugia Lopata TRY TO SELL Cotter Earl Okeefe BLOOD Dyer Bland Barratt Massive amount of work to be done, I'm worried we'll spend most of the summer chasing a head coach and player recruitment will suffer seeing most of the quality freebies snapped up.
Gent doesn't belong to us Edit: Why did I have it in my head that we only loaned Gent from Blackburn?
A bit strange writing Lewis off considering he's only just come back from injury and has a decent pedigree. May turn out to be cack on a stick, but conversely may be pretty good. I also believe that Josh Earl is a very decent player at this level, and well worth persevering with.
Listening to the Parekh interview in which he explicitly said we'd be selling, DKD must be nailed on to leave as the most saleable asset we have
Surely this is all immaterial though, as it is set in stone by those above that we play with 3 at the back and wing backs. Any coach/ manager has to work within these guidelines.
Agreed, we'll sell one maybe two then piss about getting a new coach in.After all that we may fetch four in.
Considering how long he's got on his contract, I'd be immensely disappointed if we sold him. Would be akin to waving the white flag before the season has even started.
Me too. Maybe one of him and Philips would be enough. I don't think Connell would command a huge fee on this season's form
I'm not sure there's a great deal of point to this thread, purely because we're without a permanent head coach and we don't know what the main drivers are for next season. Whether that be cloth cutting, one last dice throw or mladens whimsy. We don't know if the owners are willing to shift on things they've been wedded to. If a head coach might be given more scope to advise. I suspect not, but given the way they've binned their last two coaches, you'd hope they are asking themselves searching questions and evaluating what they've perceived to be true to date. Of the players out of contract, it would make financial sense to release them all, unless they are one of the kids who might have a better pathway to first team football. After that, I'd hope some sense is finally shown in creating a balanced smaller squad and recruitment matches what their chosen coach needs and asks for. I'll take even the smallest of wins.
I like Gent and thing he is sound enough defensively to play left back. Lewis could be the left winger depending on how he plays now until end of season.
The fact he’s 28 later this year will be a factor. His value will drop in another year for sure. Reckon he’ll be gone this summer if we get a good offer.
