If we're offered 4mil for DKD I'm sure he'd be away.. the board wouldn't have to put owt in then this summer . He really is the only one worth anything at present.. Phillips another that will probably go.. Preston keep getting mentioned.. may just top the million for him, He does score but isn't what you'd call a grafter.. Jalo would still have to prove fitness and consistency to get a higher move.. all the rest you'd have to at least pay their bus fare to get em out of Oakwell
4 million sounds good but have we paid in full for him yet? Plus Mansfield will have a sell on, everyone does. If Peterborough were selling him, they'd get far more.... they are brilliant at it.
Keep DKD, sell Phillips, I think he will be wanting to go now too. As for any of others well I am not right fussed who departs.
If we sold all the squad I'd be surprised if we get over £7M for the lot, and over half of that valuation would be from DKD
I agree entirely. Whatever we sell him for, recent history suggests that we won't replace him with anyone nearly as good, so I would much prefer it if we kept him. When Patrick Cryne was in charge, he did find decent replacements. When Winnall left, we got Bradshaw. When he left, we signed Woodrow. When the Mawson and Roberts partnership was broken up, we got Pinnock and Lindsay. I believe that the much-maligned James Cryne played a significant part in identifying some of these signings, as he also may have been when we signed Morris and Dike in the January 2021 window, which helped to get us within a couple of wins away from a Premier League return. James apparently no longer plays any active role in player recruitment, and look whom we recruited in January 2025.
£4 million might sound good to Neerav, but the problem would be finding a good replacement for less than a quarter of that. We supposedly got ca. £8 million for Mads and Kitching and spent virtually nothing on their replacements, with the result that our defence has often looked a shambles this season.
Lewis might be a very good player, but he's only signed until the end of the season. He's probably on pretty good money and it's likely that he was a short-term punt in an effort to fire us to promotion. That's obviously not worked. Re Earl, he clearly has good technical skills and can look classy and elegant on the ball. The main issue with him is his unfortunate tendency to make careless errors which can be very costly.
