She can't win, can she? She speaks, people abuse her. She stops, people start taking the piss. Id have ****** off long ago and stopped my funding of the club if id have been her. Shes a better person than me for that.
I hear what your saying Andy but backing any coach is also dependent on the budget. We spent over a million pound in the summer window ,not a lot in comparison to the Birminghams of this world but it might have been a lot for us.The chairman also said we were let down on targets in January. If I remember correctly one turned us down for not wanting to move up north, one whos wife got pregnant and didn't want to move and a third where the players manager decided to keep the player. So I think the intension was right but maybe the wrong time for the players involved. Rodrigues I agree came as a gamble and I don't agree on making a signing for the sake of it. I'd like to see more of Lewis who seems to have something about him, time will tell.
Tbf to JAQ at least she tried to engage with supporters, whatever people's opinions are on what she discussed are a different subject but at least she has the b***ocks to front up. Whatever fans opinion of her she was getting personal abuse being called sl*g etc isn't on, then someone betrayed her by exposing messages they'd exchanged and posted them. Can't blame her for stepping away
As far as I can see, he just wants to provide the fans with fast attacking football, which he believes is what they want. Or do they not want that? Yes he’s failing badly with that at the moment but let’s hope with lessons learned so far we can get back to watching exciting football again, especially at Oakwell.
It needs the players capable of playing though and that's the sticking point, ideally you need to play with a high line, however good his intentions are if he thinks MDG, Earl and Roberts have the pace to defend in behind playing the press he's in for an almighty shock. The cynic in me see's 3 interviews in 3 weeks after sacking the head coach just before early bird, the hopeful part of me thinks we will get the next appointment right and identify the right players. I hope the reality is the former and not just some haphazard attempt at trying to play high pressing football with most of this squad, Surely he has the sense to realise this?
On the evidence so far he has about as much football sense as an amoeba. In the last 3 windows they have brought no players in who look like they could play a fast paced high pressing game in fact the way the current squad play makes over 60s walking football look fast paced. His DoF as obviously not seen the memo.
Nah, according to some on here they’re already lost, so this article (which I haven’t read yet,so I’ll just take it on the posts in this thread) won’t lose any STs
Regarding this season's signings "a handful of them have been absolute successes" Can anyone name 5 "absolute successes" signed for Barnsley this season? Because I certainly cant
Even putting my extremely generous hat on, the only players i can list as being even a partial success are Gent, Roberts, Dunn and Nwakali. That is being extremely generous as well.
DKD that's it everyone else complete failures even Roberts only looks 50% of the player that left Oakwell for Brum
Gent - had a few good games, several average, quite a lot of poor Lewis - one tap in from his few cameos so far Humphrys - abject failure Roberts - best of a bad bunch at the back Hourihane - no balls Farrugia - defends as well as me. Tries hard going forward but little end product DKD - Successful signing but still goes anonymous for large portions of games. Mainly because he's not a striker but is being asked to play as one due to poor recruitment Nwakali - great potential. Doesn't fit the system as incompatible with the club captain. Jackson smith - seems an extremely naive weak goalkeeper so far. Maybe he'll come good one day but he's let in more stoppable goals than he's kept out. Slonina - absolutely awful Gauci - massive waste of time and money. No better than we had before. Lembikisa - Can't be trusted to bring on ahead of a kid Rodriguez - every bit the semi professional french lower league lad that we all thought. Can't fault his effort, but you couldn't fault mine either if I somehow signed for Barnsley. Also clearly a right winger not a striker Craig - again not compatible with the captain. A bizarre signing and was always going to fail. McCann - young lad. Not had a good game yet but too early to really comment. I'd say the only ones you can class as "absolute successes" are DKD and Roberts.\ To claim there's a handful of absolute successes makes me extremely worried over our owners judgement, even more so than I have been with everything else he's said.
DKD was hardly an inspired find tho, widely recognised as one of, if not, the best player in L2 last season.
As far as I can remember, we weren't nearly relegated under Gudjon. He joined us after that awful season, when we were nearly relegated and went into Admin.
