I disagree, we should be signing them at this stage and if needed send out to develop, where I agree it is flawed though is we recruit them and expect to step straight in and replace established first teamers.
We need to learn to recruit them so when we sell they are ready to step up.

I thought they both looked bang average at best.. and if we're serious about a 25/26 promotion push then we'll need better.. also a better keeper than any of the 5 we've seen this season.

Yeah, I think he’s got suitable attributes.

Good keepers win you 12 to 15 points a season
I’d be spending a lot of whatever our budget is on a first class keeper

When Earl joined us he stated himself that full back wasn’t his favourite position and he saw himself as a centre half, so no point having him as first choice left back imo. He would be okay to cover the position in an emergency and that’s about it.

His best games for Fleetwood before joining us was at left back though. Some of his performances have been iffy at best. I see no reason we shouldn't try other stuff mate

Not against trying stuff mate but if the player himself thinks he’s a better centre half than full back then maybe he knows best. Personally think we need to sign a new left back or see what’s in Academy?

The "something else" that I personally think needs trying is to accept he's a very poor defender and get him replaced in the summer regardless of position.

He's a truly awful defender who spends more of his life out of position than he does in. Just like MDG. I am 99% sure they're clones of each other.

Styles thought he was a better central midfielder than a left wing-back

There's a few comments that highlight the mess we're in. You could look all through the team and highlight a position that needs strengthening.

But if we brought in a left back for example, we've got Gent, Farrugia and then McCann coming through the ranks. We've Earl who could deputise and O'Keefe who has swapped there a few times. With a new left back, that's 6 options. It's way way too many. So you try and sell, but you could only offload them lower down the pyramid, so its hard to get shut when they are earning peak salaries. So you loan them out and subsidise wages for the loaning club because they can't afford what you're paying them. You end up paying 6 salaries for what should be 2 or 3, and after 'developing' them at other clubs for a few years, you release them because they are nowhere near league 1 level.

It's this sort of ridiculousness that is contributing to our sizeable losses and it hinders us getting in better players because we've so many average ones we can't get rid of and are clogging up our wage bill.

Yeah but you spent half your life telling us how crap Mads was. So I'm sure you can forgive those who may not agree with your assessment of players.

Aye, I do get your point but I think sometimes a manager sees something better than a player would. Bit like Joelinton who swore he was a striker and stunk the place out, managers moved him into central midfield and he's been a proper delight. I'm hoping if Earl does play there he won't do it with a sulk bud

    In a nutshell, sadly.

It’s alright folk telling me this player can’t do this, another can’t do that. Well, we can’t just keep adding more and more. It’s not financially sound, it doesn’t lend itself to squad harmony and it’s just boring in all honesty.

The club and its staff obviously rated these players high enough to bring them in. So make it work.

If we go to a back four and end up signing brand new full backs on either side I think my huge head would explode. Just pick the best of what’s here or stick with the clearly failing three at the back system.

But please, stop signing more and more average footballers. The last window ought to be the biggest hint on that. I wouldn’t pick any of them ahead of what we already had here. And the fact that in the most recent game, a young lad made his full debut out of position and looked more of a right wing back than some the club have spent money on recruiting is embarrassing.

You'd think there would be something of a hint to the owners and execs.

Flavell, Bland and in parts Barratt haven't looked any worse than the senior players we've signed.

The more players we sign, the more the losses ramp up, the more we block off the route to the first team for our academy kids.

I'd like to see McCann given a few games here and there. Give him a taste. Let him see there's a route for him. He could be an Eaden in the making, he might not be. But we'll never know if we don't let him try a few times.

Well then and I agree with your post btw, it is obvious that the recruitment team and the recruitment gaffer(Sormaz) aren’t exactly doing a good job......there needs to be change in recruitment and it starts with the removal of Sormaz for me. Also all the people saying he has not had long enough in job!...well he’s “under performed”that poorly in the time he’s been here that he’s actually been here too long in my eyes, get rid of him.
