I doubt we could afford him. Like him or not, he’s just spent 4 & half years at a decent club, and has a promotion, 2 playoff campaigns and a paint pot trophy to his name. Also a promotion with Barrow before that. I’d be shocked if someone like Evatt came to us. He’s hugely experienced by our standards.
Its a sad time when ‘our standards’ mean we cant attract managers with a current CV that aligns with the managers in the past where we created their CV highlights. Promotion challenges, play off promotions, cup runs, a paint pot trophy were our norm.
Appointing Evatt wouldn't deliver the fast attacking brand Neerav is looking for. Arguably with a better squad of players he played pretty dour stuff, Bolton fans were elated when he went, horrible thug too.
But that’s what we do. As you say, we create their highlights. Out of the managers that have won promotion/reached playoffs in my time, Clarke, Hunter, Wilson, Hecky all rookies. Stendel, Val, Collins all new to English management & Duff having only managed one previous club, ditto little Lee. Only Bassett could be classed as experienced.
I can't stand Colin Warnock, but he usually does a good job wherever he manages, and with the resources he's given. He certainly wouldn't let this lot under perform like they keep doing, when the going gets a little bit tough.
