That's why he told Duff that it was top 2 or nothing.. then sacked him when they dropped to 7th.. Needs promotion just to even slightly steady the ship.
Like our own owners, I still fail to see the reasoning and motivation for people not associated with the area in buying a local team..

From spending 2 seasons in the prem 2017-2019 and then finishing 3rd in the Championship and losing in the play off final under Corberan in 2022 to relegation to League One is big swing the wrong way and its always slower to cast of the high paying players then the loss in revenue such a precipitous fall inevitably results in. They are currently on their 8th or 9th Manager since 2019?

There are some things in football I’m not keen on revisiting, ie standing on wet open away ends, beanie hats or a scarf round each wrist, but I do look back fondly to the days before all this madness. Until a club that’s chased the premier league money is allowed to go out of business, there’s no deterrent.

I’d go back to open wet away ends in a heartbeat if we could have the old game back. Money has absolutely killed football, it’s only my daft lifelong addiction to BFC that’s kept me interested. The money in the game now is just obscene….and the madness is filtering down ever lower. Has to end at some point.

In someways I wish this was true but in reality they will only change things when it affects one of the big clubs

Crazy numbers. After January spendings, I thought they’d get second but clearly that isn’t happening.

Be interesting to see what they do in the summer with regards to player sales. Don’t think anyone would pay what they’d want Taylor. He could end up scoring a load for them next season, should he stay fit.

I’d sooner see a smaller club that has over extended itself go out of business. Say Wigan or Reading went bust, it might just dampen the enthusiasm of similar sized clubs going down that route.

We’ve currently got Wycombe doing it, but in the shadow of Wrexham, so not attracting much attention yet. 3800 in attendance when they played us, yet they can turn down £6million offers for their striker. They might be the smallest club to attract a sugar daddy yet. Even less to fall back on if he loses interest.

I saw Wrexhams figures on Facebook yesterday. Their fans were patting themselves on the back because they only lost £2.8m, down from £5m the previous year. Turnover was up, promotion, loans paid back to owners, blah blah.

I don’t think anyone picked up on the fact that those accounts were for June 2024, so don’t apply to now, and won’t take into consideration this seasons transfers and wages.

You do have to question how we ourselves can lose so much money without looking ambitious though.

I hear you and don’t disagree but I think reality is that unless it’s enforced with some sort of ruling clubs generally will just continue and could see a few going that way and only way I can see an enforced is if it became of the interest of a bigger club.

Wigan I would have though must be close to smallest ever. Just had a quick look & WW seem to have consistently averaged circa 5k for years whereas Wigan pre sugar Daddy were 2-3k ish

Yeah you’re quite right. Wycombe more on a par with Wrexham than Wigwam.
