My immediate thought too. Looks like he's benching players unlikely to be around after the summer and seeing what he's got within the wider squad. Given where we are in the table, it's as useful and exercise as any in terms of planning ahead.
Don't take this badly, but it's 'their' when 'belonging to them'. "The players celebrated their success." "And where did they celebrate?" "They celebrated over there, with their supporters."
Hope Jalo shows the same intent as last week, but seriously hope someone has told him to cut out the nonsense.
I think it’s purely selection on merit too. Them likely leaving wouldn’t make it make sense to not play them, as I said. But that said if the criteria to be dropped was just being crap in recent weeks, we’d struggle to put a team out with who was left.
I'm past caring to be honest but he's been poor he got dragged off last week against Cambridge after 60 minutes was it? and he was gash, we equalised without him.
Have studied the team and no idea if it's brave genius or naive tinkering. So I'm going either 5-0 or 0-5
Yeah - but let’s face it, it won’t be 4-4-2. It’ll be a back three like we’ve had so much success with all season, bland and O’Keeffe at wing back, a midfield central two of Nwakali and Russell, with DKD, Jalo and Watters as a front three. It could work, we could run out strong winners. We’ve removed players out of form, rewarded Bland with a deserved start, and have some technique and ability from wide either side of Watters. I’m not necessarily saying it’s a poor selection. Though with can’t run/won’t run in the middle of the park together, it might also be a car crash. There’s not a lot on the game realistically, so there’s no issue with having a look. But if we start next season with those two as central mids we are bang in trouble I reckon.
According to Transfermarkt, Connell is contracted until 2027, with an extra year in our favour, so we could potentially keep him for 3 more years. In Phillips' case, the contract expires in 2026 with the option of an extra year in our favour, so we could keep him for 2 more years, if we wanted to.
Opinions I think Russell's more than good enough to play in this league. And apart from Phillips has been our most productive midfielder.
Russell has all the talent going but it’s his application that’s the problem. Goes missing for long periods in games, usually when we’re up against it.
