Fair enough result I suppose. Still massive room for improvement, but these last two games have been more enjoyable for me than for a while under Clarke.
all up we are still very shambolic especially at the back, we showed some good signs in patches but against a decent side today we would have been belted 4 or 5. Far too open, midfield just run through, CBs are like ten pin skittles, it's still a big black hole up there in the number 9 position, rookie keeper that needs some solidity in front of him made some great saves and really kept the score down, an awful lot of work to do to turn this into a team
I might be thinking too positively but there was a lot more to get behind on that performance than some of the others we’ve seen recently. Enjoyed the fact we had some pace up front this has been sorely missing. Actually enjoyed watching the game for the first time in a while and wasn’t bored. With some better individual performances and decision making we might have won that.
TBF doesn’t matter who is managing when you have an attack as pitiful as ours and a defence with suicidal tendencies
It was never going to happen. I don't think Clarke was all that good, but neither was he the limiting factor. He made a few poor calls with subs, but he was mostly getting out of the squad what they're capable of. The reason we're not doing that well is because the squad isn't very good. It's that simple. Doesn't matter who the coach is when you have that situation. To be fair to Conor, he's changed it up a bit, tried a few different things. But if you have MDG, Pines and McCarthy as choices for centre back and only one midfielder in your entire squad who can make a tackle (who isn't nearly as good as many thought), then you're going to struggle.
Should have won that, however….. Playing Flavell, Bland, Jalo and Barratt has shown that we’re more than capable of starting next season with these lads and don’t have to be worried too much about the departures that will happen this summer. The young lads will have ups and downs, but so long as us, the fans, keep backing them, they’ll be ok. I think that’s the biggest positive of these last few games tbf. Bedding in this young talent.
On the plus side . Wonder what the fat ******* will have to say about that. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c8d4z4ze5m2t
