My car is in the garage so my pal has lent me a Santa Fe they have just purchased for work, what a car!! I’ll be honest I know little about cars and have probably been blinded by your other car brands in the past, this is great to drive, the inside of it is immaculate, that nice I’m contemplating selling mine and the Mrs’s and getting a Hyundai and me a little van for work. Do they have a good reputation Hyundai?
We've had an i10 and an i20, both brilliant, no problems at all. If I had to be picky, I'd say the i20 is a bit thirstier than I thought it would be, but it's no biggy really.
We got one of the first when launched some 20 odd years ago. 7k for a brand new car with 5 year warranty on all parts. Everything was built with cheap and cheerfully but mechanically it was bullet proof. They have come on in leaps and bounds in terms of quality build now too.
I rented an i30 Estate for a couple of days about 10 years ago, in Ireland. Probably still the nicest car to drive that I've experienced.
Very nearly bought an i40 estate, the inside was really nice and the boot was massive. Really impressed and a decent second hand one was around 8 grand at the time.
Last one I had was a hire car abroad - either an i20 or i30, probably ten years ago. It was alright - nothing special. Worse than my own car, which was a Golf. I do like the look of the IONIC 5, but it’s both massive and very expensive. A brand I’d consider, but not above all others.
Is that the one with built in effects processor and echo machine and makes you sound like Jimi Hendix?
I've got a i20, but not the latest model. Great little car. Came out top in safety tests which was the main reason I bought it. Very good on economy (35mpg to 60+) and easy to drive. Not much has gone wrong with it. No car tax, insurance is £20 a month (helps I've not had an accident ever, touch wood).
Hyundai and Kia are part of the same company (Hyundai owns Kia). So under the bonnet, they are the same mechanicals. I have not owned a Hyundai but driven both the Ioniq 5 and the Kona electric. I have owned 2 Kia EVs (Soul and Niro). Quality is excellent and particularly in relation to EVs, they are streets ahead of many others. Personally prefer the Kia's to the Hyundai's but you can't go wrong with either. Badge snobs will turn their nose up of course and then go out and buy something German which is not the same quality. Having said that, I am selling my Niro EV very soon as I am swapping to a lease car on salary sacrifice because it was a good deal. So if anyone wants a nearly 3 year old Niro EV, half price of when it was new, let me know
Wrongly. Even though we're pronouncing it exactly as we've been told to pronounce it for the past God knows how many years, we're now being told that we're doing it wrong. What a bunch of idiots we are.
