He started 17 of the 18 games they had left when he joined. And was subbed on for the other. So you couldn’t be any more incorrect if you tried. He’s also playing for BFC because Earl is injured, and the other option is Pines. Or another kid.
Have to agree. Usually a new coach will come in and change the approach, usually through a formation change. For this to be the 5th or 6th coach to consistently stick with a back 5 then it points squarely at those upstairs as being the ones dictating the formation to the coach, which is the most backward, ludicrous thing ever. I'm genuinely almost beyond caring now, and that really isn't me. It's just so, so bad.
Of course he is. It’s a requirement. It’s the set up dictated by our sporting director, who has failed to sign a single centre forward in two transfer windows, left us weaker after January than we started it despite not really selling anyone, yet who the chairman and majority owner insists is doing a good job. Having a set up and style of play dictated by a sporting director / director of football is questionable when the DOF is an experienced football tactician with professional game experience. When your sporting director is a half arsed data analyst without a single clue about the game it’s absolutely bare arsed ridiculous. But here we are.
Playing 3 centre backs is an odd tactic when a) none of them are particularly brilliant and b) we don’t play with overlapping full backs. Corey looks like he should be quick (and I’d never fault him for effort) but good grief, when he’s moving forward, it’s like watching Professor Stephen Hawking trying to beat a man - in his Chair - with a wheel badly in need of a touch of WD40. We should be able to do better.
Not sure Id have gone even if I was living near Oakwell but happily sitting at home with a beer and low expectations being met
**** me, what do they actually practice on the training ground. That ball from Russell to Watters was shocking
Hope Hourihane has given em an absolute ******* rocket at half time. Barnsley losing cash hand over fist with a league 1 wage bill over £7m Exeters last accounts show a small profit, well run outfit with a wage bill a shade over £3m. We can see that difference on the pitch. Crazy.
There is no doubt that the fans are wanting to see goals, pressing play and fast flowing football at home, unfortunately Connor, it’s usually from the opposition
Someone needs to clamp down on this practise of the keeper going down for an unofficial time out. Ridiculous to think the keeper had cramp 3 minutes into the second half. It's taking the ****. The manager called for a time out because we changed tactics. Shouldn't be allowed.
That's twice (Rusell just now, DKD in the first half) where Reds players have had the ball on the edge of the area, no defenders around and they've tried a weird back pass and lost possession. Turn!
Get Lewis on. Even Rodriguez. We’ve nothing to lose. Let’s look at players who may be here next season.
The amount of times these players flat out refuse to move forward into the vast space ahead of them is bizarre. Sideways and back even when it’s not the obvious option. Not much has come off for Russell but at least he does drive forward. And yes, so does Humphrys, even if I’d prefer he drove miles away from the town.
