Unfortunately that’s the level we’re at, how on earth are we going to find better with no money? And more importantly who one earth will pay a fee to take him off our hands?

He will oversee our relegation to league 2 next season. And I bet we sell Sheperd to Bradford

As soon as I saw O’Keeffe throw it to him down in the corner I said “last thing we want is these 2 messing about with it near our own box” and then that happens.

Mael is making the same mistakes he was making when he first arrived. Just not good enough. We want to be a championship side apparently, can you imagine him in that division?

He got subbed off on his debut because he was that crap and/or going to get sent off didn’t he?

You're right. I remembered it as a horror show, but for the wrong reasons.

I think there's a couple of lessons here:
    - Just because we sign a player from abroad doesn't mean their international standard - Mael had 33 games at Ligue 2 level, and before that was French amateur/non-league
    - Stats at a lower level don't transfer to stats in League One and above; moreover, the transition from a different country and style of football is probably harder than from lower down the English league pyramid

Indeed it was. Looked like a rabbit in headlights that day. Games like tonight make me think not much has changed….

    Apart from.....

    1) Getting booked for holding on to the ball.

    2) Nearly getting a second yellow for a trip by the away dug out early second half.

    3) Getting a foul when their player knocked him over when Mael body checked him as he was flying past him.

    4) Being mugged for the winner.

    He had a good game.

Because people don't praise him when does play well. Only churp up when he plays poorly imo mate. He's certainly weak in the air though that's my mine gripe, and he is weak when defending at times. But just nowhere near the worst we've had. McCarthy made a shocking pass and they were through on goal but we just didn't get punished from it thankfully, i'd take Mael over McCarthy all day long.

But these past couple of weeks Mael has been horrific. As has most to be fair, besides the youngsters.

Actually thought Connell did well today when he came on though, a side from 1 bizarre pass he tried.

He’s weak at defending at times? So therefore he’s not doing his job some of the time?

lets say he was a fireman or train driver would you accept them not doing their job some of the time? It’s harsh but PROFESSIONAL footballers get paid wages akin to other comparable professionals. The guys not up to it and that’s that

Maybe I'm blinkered mate but I think there's been a lot worse. I appreciate you aren't ripping my head off in disagreement however like what happens a lot on here! In a settled side in league one I'd think he'd be an asset. Not convinced he can play higher but as of yet, we aren't higher...
The biggest issue for me is he is weak as piss in the air. We're shocking down the flanks and get absolutely 0 defensive cover from midfield, it's left wide open. All that together, still not yet rectified... I still think McCarthy is worse though...

Sorry, did you not see Haaland miss a penalty and 2 sitters against Bournemouth? Are we really pretending footballs dont make mistakes or go off form? I've already said he's been abysmal recently.

You are right mate he isn’t the worst we have had, however the time as come to get shut because he isn’t good enough and just because he his better than McCarthy doesn’t mean we should keep him. McCarthy Pines and MDG all need to go.

We have a poor squad so comparing one player in it others in it doesnt really instill me with confidence. Maybe if we compare our players one on one to those teams in the top 4 is a better guage. Of course there is also that topic that cant be understated of how well we operate as a team / squad. Do these pieces of the puzzle fit together? As i see it we have so few quality players its hard to judge the coaches and squad overall. Our fall down the leagues has shown that.

    Yep, this.......
"As I’ve said in another post, you can’t knock the lad for effort and commitment, but he’s just not up to it. And, he’s not getting any better".
Imho I like some aspects of his play but not a defender and just can't be trusted to be solid.
