You've got to take into consideration that we don't play with one lone striker but two. They play one right side one left always. Never together down the middle in a pair .. inexplicably How many times when the ball does come across after the dwelling on the ball then back then sideways moves.. we have one forward in the box surrounded by half a dozen defenders..
I genuinely don't think he's a bad player. Power, pace, skill, a decent finisher. Objectively has all the attributes to be a solid Championship regular. Which makes it all the more frustrating how much more he blows cold than hot.
How many replacements is the question? Need shut of Dallas, Watters, Cosgrove, Marsh, Rodrigues,Lewis and Humphrey’s so would need at least 4
I think he is pretty dreadful. 1 ok game in every 10. Little actual desire to work hard. I’d say a 2/10 signing.
Depends on who comes in for me. As a winger, Humphrys is decent. As a striker he's naff. If we bring in a manager that is going to play with wingers as we did second half vs Exeter then I'd definitely keep humps. But if not and we are going to continue with this 352 formation, then he's gotta go
I've just listened to Conor's pre-Brum session, and he seems to see a lot more in Humphrys than I have over the season. The past two games have been his best for months, though.
I'd keep Watters - think he'd be very effective if used correctly and he can stay fit. Lewis - surely far too early to write off? Agree about the rest.
Watters channel running is a great tool to stretch the game to create space for others. We just need ti use it better.
I’d like to see better versions of both Humphreys and Watters. They’ve got 6 games left to convince me or I’d want rid.
Start of the season he looked very good but has dropped off quite dramatically. I thought he did well against Exeter though and looked a threat. If we are going to play with wingers next season, and we can get him on good terms, I’d say yes to keeping him. I would imagine neither of those scenarios will happen though.
I see nothing at all in Watters, wish we could get shut this summer but we’re stuck with him for at least another year. Never gets on the end of any crosses and when the ball is in the air he never makes a challenge. It’s like his feet are nailed to the floor.
He's very fast and can finish - both qualities that will get you far at this level in a half decent side.
Sorry, but I don’t think he can finish. Takeaway the goal against Lincoln - which admittedly was a good goal - then all his finishes have been crap, the Crawley one for example where even he was surprised it went in. Add in all the easy misses he has and I think it concludes that he can’t finish. And I’m with OneMicky, he doesn’t challenge for headers, he doesn’t have a great touch, can’t link up play, only can stretch the defence. I want him to do good but don’t think he will.
Not sure about the finishing bit. He must’ve had 4 or 5 gilt edged chances at Bristol and missed the lot.
Hear people say this about him but just don’t see it myself to me he looks like a poor footballer who can’t be arsed most of the time.
