I understand that, and I'm far from being the cynical type, but there just appeared to be no joint up thinking in the players we signed, maybe Gauci and Farrugia aside. Rodriguez in particular was a completely nonsensical acquisition. How he ended up on our radar is anyone's guess. I get that Cosgrove was dreadful in the first half of the season, but I only mention him as Rodriguez was seemingly his replacement.

Anyway, this season is practically done and I'm willing to forgive and forget if we get our business right this summer.

Think we were 6th under Duff, 8th if I remember right last season. Obviously dunno about this season but I’d wager that unlike the two other years of overachieving the budget, we more than likely underachieved this year.

Was just about to say the same, total guess work of a site, Mansfield, Cambridge, Burton and Northampton having bigger budgets, Cambridge with the 7th biggest budget is laughable

 

I've obviously not seen them in training, and they have not set the world on fire in their very brief appearances, but I believe neither Rodriguez or Lewis have been given a chance to impress.

Similarly Dexter lembikisa. Awful laiker. It's not hindsight to see that he's not up to standards. It'just common sense.

What worries me is that Sormaz is supposed to be a statistical expert who can pour over past data and form a good opinion yet the very basic data for all three of those players points to them being crap yet he still wasted money signing them.

If money is tight which we know it is, it's more important than ever to spend your money wisely and shipping out our own lads to bring in massive punts and gambles on short term deals is absolutely pathetic use of vital money in my opinion.

Correct. Sormaz is continually wasting money on transfers, contracts and wages yet there are some, even in this thread, defending him. The guy has been a complete disaster-movie but it appears some people will gladly pay to see the re-run.

 

Agree with all of your points however I’d still like to know where you have the information that Rodrigues is a right winger? Obviously I’d never seen him play before he signed for us but Transfermarkt has him down as only ever playing through the middle so I wondered what you’d seen that suggest otherwise?

 

Videos of him show him clearly playing as a winger and when hes come on for us he's (in my opinion) looked far more comfortable on the right wing area

There are some if you trawl through. Some are more implicit/sympathetic than explicit. Nevertheless, if people want to defend him, sympathise with him or actually blow his trumpet that's up to them. For me, as I've said ( and sorry for banging the drum) he's a major liability, wastes money, has hidden behind manager sackings and should not be here.

I’m not sure I’ve seen him look comfortable to be honest. Either is not involved or like a rabbit in headlights.
