Ask for £10m, people laugh, you're stuck with a player who wants to leave, or, you have the misfortune of a serious injury. I don't know what a fair price is. £10m seems ridiculous for a league 1 player who lacks physicality, can't head the ball and who might only have a couple of good years in him.
“Hiya love, bit of an update on the house. I know we had it valued at £250,000, but I’ve asked for £2,500,000 instead.” “Why?” “Well, I read something on the bbs..”
Considering how much Stansfield cost, and the offer Wycombe turned down for Kone, I think we would be giving him away for £3m.
Suspect a few things- 1) If £3m, it’ll have certain add-ons attached to bump it up. 2) If there is one club he deffo wants to go to, and they deffo want him, then an early transfer might make more sense. Gets him in and less danger of a bidding war. 3) Leading on from 2, it gives us early funds to invest in the summer. Makes sense to me - and I’d rather him gone early then hanging about until late Sept like Styles usually did…….
£5m could get us 6 £750k signings which invested properly would get and keep us promoted plus £500k left over.
I don't think were any more or less desperate than other clubs. All clubs carry debt ,its how you service it.
I think the incompetence started before the current board took control.Under their tenure we've had a very good season,a good season and an average season.Personally I'll give them some slack to get the train back on the track.
I agree with your main point, but id classify it as a very good season (cheated by the referee, unfortunately it happens in football), a good season and a very bad season. However, yourr 100% correct. What Lee and Conway did put the club back years and years - people don't mention it though as it doesn't fit the narrative.
I tend to agree with your last sentence; however, the current ownership group haven't helped themselves. Sacking a head coach in a play off position followed by the subsequent appointment of a substandard head coach as well as the appointment of a poor Sporting Director - to date - is on them. I feel this is their last throw of the dice, and it appears they've doubled down on Conor. Let's hope it's a smart move as I hate to consider the alternative if it isn't.
@SuperTyke please use AI to create a photo of Mladen literally slapping DKD on the head with a £6,000,000 price tag sticker.
I imagine 3 million is probably about right. The player probably wants to leave, as he's only really got one chance of getting a decent contract at Championship level. He's 27 years old and has played lower leagues for his career - a 4 year 12/15k a week deal should set him up for life really. Regarding add ons, I would speculate that there's no point in any resale percentage. Can't see him moving for a big fee aged 30+. I'd like to think we could structure any add ons based on Championship appearances/goals/finishing position etc. Good luck to him, without him we'd have been proper fecked this season.
Need to meme of the bloke putting a plaster on the leaking water container. Not clever enough to post it though
100% mate. I'm not excusing these lot. But people are being daft if they believe its fully on them. They've been incompetent no doubt, and the accumulation of that has resulted in this season.
How can you describe the 3rd worst league placing in the last 45 years as 'average'? It's catastrophically bad. Year 1 was average at best, year 2 well below average and this year a disaster.
Youre doing the exact same thing as he is in reverse. How was year 1 average? Seriously? Year 2 wasn't below average, we finished where we needed to finish in top 6. Third point agreed.
