Started the season with a plethora of attacking options and yet somehow by Christmas with were watching Don Goodman, Karl Rose and Deon shitting Burton up front

It was indeed Bournemouth, who were managed by Mel Machin at the time.
And wasn't that Lg cup tie against Scarbrough, our only ever competitive first team games against them ?.

Yeah we gave young Karl Rose some games in the poor winter part of the season.
Along with Don Goodman, Deon Burton, and even Mike Turner.
I think we signed Mike Sheron at about that time, from the Ward sale money.
There was even talk of Dean Windass wanting to move back home to Yorkshire (from Aberdeen), and our club was suggested.

We tried to get Windass when we were in the Premier League for 750k but he wouldn't come, we nearly signed Iain Dowie for 1.2 million but he turned us down so we went for Ashley Ward

As much as I liked Ward, I couldn't help but snigger at how it fell apart for him and Blackburn.
Then he dropped down to Bradford, and wasn't he set to come back to us on the transfer deadline, in the relegation season '01-02.

I hear that Scarbrough Fc were so skint in those days, that they made their match day programmes out of fish n chip paper!!.
