Of course fast moving, high pressing, attacking football sounds great but there’s a massive difference. During Patrick Cryne’s later years at the club when we adopted that approach we signed young, fit, dynamic footballers who could play that way.

There’s no point saying you want to play that style of football & then bringing in 35 year old Roberts, 33 year old Hourihane & Nwakali who isn’t exactly blessed with speed & stamina.

Barely any of the squad are suited to that style of play.

 

I agree the defence especially with the lack of pace and ability on the ball is a worry. Hopefully shepard steps up.

He's only been here for 14 months. So he's had a longer tenure than the two Head Coaches he threw under the bus.

To try to defend the indefensible is no doubt very loyal but typically pointless.

£18m of funding from the owners in just over 26 months and the squad is considerably worse, unbalanced and bloated.

If my job was Director of football presiding over that I’d expect to be removed from post.

Taking a guy who, six years ago, was employed by the University of York and is now a Director of football just shows the naivety of our recruitment approach.

Time will tell if we sign any of the mentioned players, but Sormaz is the sporting director and in January he proved his worth. Just when we thought we was over possibly the 2 worst signing of the last 20 years with the Belgium duo Sormaz signed the French wonder kid and the American international who played what 3 matches combined. I don’t know what the budget was but the wages we paid them could be used to sign a striker on loan from someone, the best part he signed 2 wingers who was not strikers. You can forgive people surely who don’t trust the guy to rebuild.

 

Or maybe it’s just the curse of Baz’s biscuit tin.

The first way to improve his reputation would be to come out and say dkd is going no where and we are building the team around him.
Then he needs to say we are building a defence that doesn't concede 75 goals in a season.

 

The first way he could have improved his reputation was to have taken responsibility for the disastrous January transfer window, then to gain favor, he could/should have fallen on his sword and resigned
Furthermore, in my opinion Neerav ( Lovely caring bloke he is) is having his pants pulled down and his backside spanked by this charlatan, who's masquerading as a football director, secondly in my opinion, he would be more suited to analysing the amount of times that Barry's biscuits ended up in the bottom of the cup when dunked
How long was his contract for when he came in, anybody know.

 

Depends if he takes any notice of what Hourihane asks for.
If he listens but then ignores him then we have a problem Houston.
Then it'll be back to the good old merry go round.

 

And then he’d get hammered when a bid came in that the owners couldn’t turn down.

 

In part some of our issues are not selling, I've no problem in players departing for the right offer, as a club it helps keep us somewhat less reliant on cash injections and helps us rebuild/recycle the squad.
Whilst Mladen is a disastrous fit for the club, I will defend Neerav and the board for getting good deals for the few players we have sold under their tenure, if anything DKD is now at peak/prime value, I get folk might say we'll replace them with ***p but conor needs funds it might be we sacrifice DKD to improve the Goalkeeper, Defence and some wide players to allow him a bit more room to work on the squad as a whole.
I want us to retain the best players of course but without funds its difficult to build a team around DKD because we'll be fighting for the scrap ends again and it might take selling 1 very good player to bring in 3 good players for this level.

 

We can't afford to lose a player with 19 goals and his assists. If we sell dkd and don't improve our defenders we will go down

Agree if DKD goes out and a couple come in but we need to keep the squad numbers down ( which I think is 23 1st team) after the retained list. otherwise we end up paying players not to play which pushes up the wage bill.
