Promoters are trying to big it up a bit, there will be a couple of thousand left - it's too expensive for what it is.
Over 80% of tickets sold according to the advertising online now. That's over 12,000 I believe. Very good effort once again.
Pretty unprecedented support for a fighter yet to hit world level. And the pricing is actually quite cheap for a boxing event of this size - though it does reflect the fact the top bill is online European title standard. I suspect if he gets a world title shot the prices would be double at least. I’ll be there next week, hoping for a great evening.
Not bad at all. The majority won't have a clue about anyone on the undercard or care about it. Plenty will only turn up for the main event, so might have spent £100 on something that could only last a few rounds.
Canelo holds all the belts at supermiddle weight if they get him to come oakwell and it's double money. Take my money I'm there.
If it's from that Boxxer post on Insta, some of those areas that are saying sold out aren't. I'm getting tickets in one of those areas. There's plenty left - it's another marketing push by Boxxer
Just realised Fabio Wardley is fighting at Portman Road on the same night. Imagine that has hurt sales/attendances slightly as boxing purist fans have two options to watch.
I think anything over 13K is huge at this level. The bastion of British boxing, York Hall, holds 1,200 people. The recent Josh Taylor fight in Glasgow had about 12,000 people there. A better-known fighter, world champ level etc. Big arena fights will get upwards of 50K but these usually have long term nuturing of 'long awaited' bouts like Eubank v Benn or are holding world class champions like Fury, Joshua etc. The big name, big venues nearer to 90K like the Saudi fights. Domestically, European level rarely gets more than 10K and if aborad even less.
They were tipping 25K, but not sold out yet. I reckon it will be nearer to 20K but apparently the Wardley v Clark fight in London sold 13K so im not sure Miller was a bigger draw, although the fight location fits better. Now he has pulled out, and a lesser known Huni is his opponent. I don't see tickets moving quicker.
I can’t see Wardley selling that well. They’ve tried to make out he’s a big Ipswich fan but all his old social media posts have been dug up showing him to be a Man Utd fan.
Completely agree. The other thing to bear in mind is the undercard isn’t very good & even the competitive fights on it feature fighters from nowhere near Barnsley. I’d imagine at least 90% of the crowd are there solely for Simpson where as the Taylor card had quite a few local fighters on it like McGregor, Jamieson & Brown on it as well as the debuts of Arthur & Limond’s kids & of course Moses Itauma. What Simpson’s doing is incredible. If there’s ‘only’ 12,000 there then that is pretty special for the level he’s at.
