Not his best game today. But he is young and still learning. Another year in League 2 would do him good.
I'd like to think so too. Sorry, do you want me to say he was brilliant today? He's not had a kick. Doesn't mean he's not going to make it, doesn't mean i don't want him to come back and do well. I've been to an Oldham game specifically to watch him this season, by the way.
I remember jacob brown going on loan at Chesterfield at 19/20 did nothing came back to barnsley and just went from strength to strength. Oldham fans gave him great reviews from his time there so we will see.
I don’t think you can decide whether or not Vimal should be in our squad next season based on this one game. I think most Oldham fans would carry him on their shoulders over the Pennines to have him back.
Well done to micky Mellon too had a few promotions Fleetwood, tranmere and now oldham good lower league manager.
He's clearly not got the required level of fitness but it doesn't detract from what a good value player he was for us and we've since spent a lot of money on wages etc to sign much worse strikers. Good luck to him he's had a fantastic day.
Well done you. To say he’s not had a kick is a bit of an exaggeration. I just get slightly weary of the tendency to criticise. The lad has just played in a reasonably important final, at 19 years old, the pundits have been pretty complimentary, but we can always find something negative to say. It was always thus, to be fair though.
I only put the game on after about 65 minutes & I thought the Oldham number 9, Fondop was magnificent. His hold up play & workrate & the amount of flick ons he won were superb but apparently he missed a sitter early on. Great game & I’m happy for Norwood & Yoganathan
He slaughtered Yoganathon for missing an easy chance but then went on to miss several himself so he wasn't too endearing, but yes he can certainly flick a ball on.
He was a decent free signing for us that season when he got upto speed. Like you say we have paid money for players who have been worse. He never lasted 90 minutes and now seems to play even less and pick up more injuries. Last summer a few on here were wanting him back which I thought was pretty crazy as his scoring record was nothing exceptional in non league, I think will grigg scored 25 in 38 games same season and I wouldnt want us to sign him.
I'm hoping to see both Bland & Vimal regularly in the first team squad next season. I don't expect them to be on top of their game in every match. However, I've never seen any Barnsley player manage that, ever.
Only watched it from about 60 mins. Extra time felt like a short highlights vid, as the Oldham goals came so closely together. Reminded me of the Walsall play off first leg, when we were still singing ‘Winalls on fire’ as he went through and dinked in the third. Bet it was banging in the Oldham end.
Problem being Kev BFC fans don't give players time. Players needs run of games to get up to speed. Russel being a prime example ,young lads need nurturing into match time. Where at BFC they don't get chance.
