If you’re doing something you’re not used to then yes it would be normal, like someone else said if you’re concerned get medical advise if not do for few weeks and see if it improves.
Apologies if mentioned but I'd recommend the Couch to 5k running app - started a few weeks ago and feel better for it. Just run two 8 minute sessions today which I wouldn't have been able to do a few weeks ago. Doing on it on a treadmill as the old knees aren't what they used to be and there isn't as much impact. Doing 2 lots of 50 lengths swimming per week as well which is really helping ... would have been 100+ a few years ago but not bad at 55
If I could recommend any exercise to anyone at 50 wanting to lose weight, keep fit, and not end up with joint problems it would be Swimming. I did my ACL 15 years ago and Achilles rupture 10 years ago, for this reason I don't run, the sheer pounding on the joints isn't good, swimming is fantastic, regularly see people speed walking in the pool aswell, great exercise, start off slow and build up your distance. You'll be pain free in joints and muscles and it keeps you fit I do 3 sessions a week, best form exercise going.
