Promotor Shalom planning for a headline fight in Sheffield in sept/Oct. Callum wanting a World title fight Oakwell summer 2026.
Doesn't Canelo hold all the belts? Chances of getting him to come to Oakwell are somewhere between 0 and 0 I'd say.
There’s a handful of fighters Simpson will want. Berlanga’s agency has been open about him getting regular opponents from the UK. He is fighting Hamzah Sheeraz soon. Both could be an option for Simpson going forward. My bet is that’ll be potentially one of them two.
He got knocked down twice last weekend. He's still a lot to learn. I wouldn't wouldn't rushing to world level so quickly. He should clean up the European division first for the experience.
He could do that in the next 12 months to be fair. I would expect him to fight 2/3 times before next summer
https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...f-barnsleys-most-special-sporting-nights-ever I would have thought we'd have had some past and present more senior players there than Smith and Ravenhill.
I was referring specifically to the bit where he says World title fight Oakwell summer 2026. Your post goes off on a bit of a tangent in context of mine.
Be a bit more positive RichK, its Barnsley wer on abart ere, he'd come for knowt just to experience a Yorkshire Pudding,
Given he is between 7 - 14 in all of the world rankings i would say he is at world level. But only in ranking. So essentially i would say a prospect. I agree he needs to prove he can fight and win at that level. To do so i believe he needs to win 1-2 opponents in the same vicinity on these rankings before a world title is on the line and then maybe an eliminator may come his way. In a strange way his inexperience will work in his favour but also create risk. Other boxers wont avoid him as he develops and progresses. Also the fan base will be attractive. So i feel he has a great opportunity ahead. No rush but also cant stand still. This is a ‘coming, ready or not’ sport.
