Quite a few Leeds and Wednesday in Lincoln too, have to say though the Wednesday fans I know are actually decent people, Leeds ones have some prats though.
There's buyers there waiting, unlike us they can attract investment. https://www.swfc.co.uk/news/2025/june/26/club-update-from-the-chairman/ He'll sell up soon.
All clubs have some idiots as fans, and some have more than others of course lol. Coming from the "West" as I do, I've always looked at Leeds as our/my big rivals. Even more so when they were the top highest placed Yorkshire club. As for the Fowls, I will never stop feeling angry about what happened against them, at Wembley. But that anger is certainly not aimed at the Sheff Wensdy fans.
I agree. Would rather play Wednesday anytime than Millwall, Stevenage, Wycombe etc. They really do irritate me especially after wembley but if the role would of been opposite some of our lot would be the same. We all have our deluded fans. I can guarantee you I would rather have a pint with a Wednesday fan than your average Liverpool, man utd using "we" like they go all the time.
There's a good overview in the Guardian today link I've not been close to any of the story but reading it feels a lot like Glasgow Rangers in 2012.
Let’s hope it has a similar outcome. Be great to see them way down the pyramid, although Radio Sheffield would still have them on more than us, Doncaster or Rotherham
This is “last minute winner” Wednesday we are talking about. Taylor Swift will probably buy them for £300mn on August the 1st and clear the debts. They’ll win the Championship and two Grammys.
Yeah, they’ll come out of this eventually with a very wealthy backer. No doubt at all about that. A bit of short term pain in at least one relegation before that will be very welcome though.
Absolutely love playing them. The way their club has been managed over the last 10 years is a joke and they reap what they sow. Looking forward to their relegation next season.
I think most Yorkie club fans take the mick when another local team struggle, and end up getting relegated. But I bet we'd still prefer to be playing them again, instead of a team from down south, who we have little or no connection with.
Don’t like the club and a lot (not all) of their fans have ideas of grandeur way beyond reality but the players, coaching staff and especially the office and support staff not being paid is horrendous; there will be plenty of people on low ish salaries employed by the club struggling to pay their bills - maybe not able to get a shop in to feed their kids etc. Club rivalry is less important than the human element. Put them in liquidation, relegate the club - whatever. But look after the staff. Lowest paid first.
Zero sympathy for the owner, players or supporters. Old Dejphon was a hero when they were winning. I do have sympathy with the staff behind the scenes doing the jobs that aren’t high reward in terms of finance. But even then, you know the score so could find work elsewhere.
Pity it never happens like that in football. The players get paid eventually. The lower paid folk get laid off. Look at how many The Rat has got shut of at ManUre to save a few quid but still pay some players hundreds of thousands a week.
