When you travel the world and start talking about FIFA, it’s a whole other ballgame,” she said. “It means hope, it means passion, it means commitment. FIFA is not like the N.F.L., the N.B.A. or M.L.B. It’s next level globally.”

    Oh dear.

Hopefully she’s mentioned us to potential investors.

When people have asked.. "what are they actually doing here" I think here maybe your answer.
Maybe we are seen as a way in to the UK market to sell their fashion gear. One thing is for sure they're not here to prop up a mid sized former industrial towns football team in northern England.
And those that say ' but they've put 4 million in.. if they hadn't we'd have defaulted like the Wednesday owner.
But you wouldn't think they'll be willing to put in more than they'll ever get back..

You may not like FIFA (who does), or JAQ ( I do), but what she states is correct. Whilst known worldwide, the NFL, NBA and MLB are USA-centric, whereas FIFA is truly global.

Name one owner who isn't a local supporter of whatever club who would do it different? They ALL join for personal reasons.

Major shareholder Neerav Parekh has invested millions into Barnsley FC so minor shareholder JAQ can sell some clothes?

It's an interesting investment model, I'll give you that, but I don't think it's going to work out for him.

Thats not what she's saying though. She's holding up FIFA as being globally respected as a symbol of 'hope, passion and commitment' when the reality is they're universally hated because to pretty much everyone they mean greed and corruption. When you think of FIFA you think of bribery and the World Cup being sold to the highest bidder. Whereas as brands, NBA, MLB and NFL are seen as cool. She literally could not be further off from the zeitgeist.

And thats why i think they might struggle to sell much clobber. Who wants to be associated with FIFA?

They'll also struggle to make much money back through Julie's not for profit charity.

I'm going to say this as many times as i have to till people start getting it; VFiles is a charity not a business.

It’s amazing that she wants to wow the fifa loving world yet a football club she is involved with is in a bit of a mess. Seems an odd juxtaposition

Good to see after all the corruption, bribery and sports-washing that FIFA have got their priorities right.

What next? FIFA branded vapes for kids?

I would hazard a guess that she won't be hanging around here much longer now the ladies team is no more.

just a very hypocritical stand point to be championing something whilst a football thing she’s involved with that’s gone absolutely backwards since their involvement.

Not sure any of them are seen as cool are they? They're the regulatory orgsnisations, they're not supposed to be cool. Cool is reserved for the individual teams/players surely?
