Or 9 in 12 when played where he should be, 0 in 30+ when he was played as square peg?

Yep. Played the vast majority of his career as a striker.

Looks like a prime candidate for Mad Mel to play at wing back

Ok, maybe I should have said 'as a square peg in a DC team of square pegs' ;-)

He looked ok as an attacking winger

He definitely looked better in the last handful of appearances he made, for sure. I’m not at my laptop else I’d show another graphic which shows he played a lot of his first few months wide too.

Granted, he did end up having to plough a lone furrow up top for a spell, owing to injuries and Cosgrove being Cosgrove, but the argument from Humphrys fans and he himself, that he’s not a centre forward, doesn’t really wash if that’s where he’s played the vast majority of his football.

I’ve no doubt he’ll do well at City. And for a promoted club, he’s a good signing even if he puts in another campaign like the last one. And because it’s where I live and I’ve friends who support them, I hope he does well for them.

But he was absolutely sh**e for all but about a dozen games last season. I think O’Keeffe had a better season, and I’d release him today.

Same minor uproar when we didn't keep Norwood.

I think Humphreys, showed glimpses of being a very good player but certainly not every match. He's decided to move on and I wouldn't say he was genuinely unique / outstanding at this level.
As long as we bring someone in with a bit of strength and power up top (obvs with an eye for goal), won't be losing much sleep over not re-singing him. Suppose we can't judge what we have until the window is nailed shut.

So 0.29 goals per game when played as a centre forward, 0.49 when played "out of position"?
