Just seen on worksop FB page that Saturdays game is all ticket nothing showing on barnsley website or FB page. I don't know if fans will be segregated but there was segregation in the playoff final, will be a shame if so as its been a good atmosphere at the last 2 friendlies
When announcing ticketing information for our other friendlies on Friday evening, the club's website said this about Worksop: Ticketing details for our trip to Worksop Town will be published at the earliest opportunity. They're cutting it fine. It seems all of our friendlies this year are ticket only. It's good for the club we're visiting as they know how many people are attending and can accurately plan. Not so great for the likes of myself who wanted to decide next Tuesday after work whether I fancy driving to Buxton or not.
Thanks That doesn't suggest ticket only. But I'll check with the club tomorrow as we are running a coach.
This idea that nearly every game has to be all ticket these days is just ludicrous and is yet another restriction that will kill smaller clubs. This is a friendly for God’s sake. Are they expecting mass brawls on the terraces?
I think it's probably more to do with ensuring they have enough food and drink etc, rather than the fear of fighting breaking out. If that was the case, they'd be limiting the attendance or segregating crowds. I've been to friendlies watching us with 2000 spectators in a ground which is often staffed to cope with 150 people and a dog. On the flip side, I overheard quite a few Alfreton fans last season when we visited there, who were disappointed with the turnout of our fans. If they'd catered to an expected crowd of, say, 2000, and only 500 turned up, and they didn't have another home fixture for a week or two, there's the potential for a lot of wastage. I think it makes perfect sense to make it all ticket, albeit a little bit more awkward for the more casual travelling fan like myself. If anything, it's benefitting the smaller clubs. I can't see that there's that many going to be put off by having to purchase a ticket online before the game, rather than paying cash on the door. As a slight aside, the Emley ticket site was an absolute breeze, and my ticket was available immediately. Our club should be looking at adopting their ticketing system. It's miles better than Ticketmaster.
I see your point but have to ask the question: how did they manage before the all ticket scenario? Perhaps catering is more of an issue now, though not for me. The game is my only motivation - not the price or availability of food and drink.
I was watching a recent episode of Bunch of Amateurs, which follows Dorking Wanderers around. They were saying that they needed to finalise a beer and food order 10 days before their play-off quarter final. 10 days before said game, they still had the final game of the season to play where, they could have been promoted automatically, could have finished high enough so not to need to play in a quarter final, or could have finished in a position where they'd be away for the quarter final game. I guess it's not the same scenario as a pre-season friendly, but at that level, I guess every pound is paramount.
When it says print at home, it just means a ticket will be sent to you digitally. You don’t actually have to print it, you can show it on a phone if you’d prefer.
Was really looking forward to this as I only live down road from Worksop but already got other plans so going to have to miss it. Should be a good trip out for those going
https://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/bfc-site-tickets-worksop-town-vs-reds.337706/ Not according to our site.... Tickets must be printed – mobile phone versions will not be accepted at the turnstiles.
Oh! That’s really surprising as ‘print at home’ on our ticket site always includes being able to show on the phone. What a strange decision.
If it gets to point where tickets have to be printed off n not just digital on phone that be me done altogether
Having to go through all this crap online/print/booking fees and apparantly just been told, we can now pay on gate tonight. Wouldn't surprise me if Worksop do the same. Edit Emley website Updated 11am There will be one gate open for pay on the gate (cash & card accepted), the other two turnstiles will be reserved for advance ticket scanning. With 1,150 tickets sold, you can guarantee your ticket by buying in advance tickets.emleyafc.co.uk
