Just read they've joined Wednesday by having a transfer embargo placed on them by the EFL, apparently, theyve not been paying other clubs the transfer payments that they owe them, plus other business they owe money to haven't been getting paid either. How long can this go on before there's a reality check takes place...surely football clubs in general need reining in big time, any other type of business other than football would have gone bust and ceased trading. Time the cheats ( living behond their means should be removed from the league )
Living beyond your means is one thing, but not paying your dues and demands is the big problem because others are affected, be they employees (from players to cleaning staff) or other parties being owed monies for services provided and outstanding instalments on transfer fees. As I understand it running at a loss ( like us) and not owing anything is worlds away from what Wednesday are doing.
Game is ****** they'll be no hotels or womens teams left to sell the reality is slowly starting to bite, it's a very slow burner at present but it's starting to catch up. Wage cap, but they won't do it for fear of losing some average prima donner to La Liga etc, all about brand image.
What boils my urine is when small businesses/ tradespeople have done work in good faith don’t get paid and then have the sleepless nights courtesy of them. Then what you get is the club getting bankrolled, spending beyond their means and such as sky etc banging on about ‘how great it is to have them back’ - yet they’ve **** on folk only a matter of months before
my solution is simple. Send them packing to the bottom of the pyramid. Make an example of someone and see what happens. Bin ffp etc off. If someone is foolish enough to spend billions on a football club so they can have their b@locks pushed around in a wheelbarrow, then let them, but make them fully aware that when they’re bored of there plaything and the wheels fall off, then you’re sent packing to the bottom of the pyramid aswell. Starting with Sheffield Wednesday
spot on the sanctions for overspending (ie cheating to gain competitive advantage) are nowhere near strong enough.
Where does all this end, is it going to take a club finally getting the full and deserved punishment. But not Sheff Wensdy obviously, they are like Teflon, nothing seems to stick to them!.
said for a long time now they should make every owner have a bond in an account that is held by the FA that has enough money to cover 1 years outgoings. This is updated yearly and failure to do so results in punishment. That way each club can spend what they like but everyone is protected in the short to medium term.
I’m not advocating it doesn’t, just pointing out that living beyond your means in football terms doesn’t have to mean you’re not paying your way. In our case, it does seem that tge losses are being absorbed ( at the moment) This has to change of course and hopefully soon will.
