I can understand why people may not like their music but to suggest Noel Gallagher is ‘untalented’ isn’t really very credible is it ?

I still don’t get why people feel the need to comment on & criticise a band they don’t like. Just strange behaviour. Ignore & move on. Unless it’s just trolling to try & get a reaction which would make more sense.

    It’s mental.

Music is such a personal thing.

they’re not my cup of tea but they’ve done some good stuff and some bad stuff - but which band hasn’t?
Everyone to their own, life’s too short to argue about music…..and football

When they try to suggest they’re in the the same category as the Beatles is laughable

You're right, he's absolutely gaffered those 4 chords.

In the 90s they were like a microwave meal from the 70s that someone found in the back of the freezer, banged a load of coke and reheated. At this point they're a bucket of sick that's been reheated 7 times already. Dead last out of the Britpop bunch - Pulp and Blur have aged so much better.

And from that era Radiohead stand alone.

hmm. That sounds like your opinion rather than an appreciation for musical ability. Which I get, but it probably just illustrates my point.

Have you listened to much of the high flying birds stuff or collaborations with dance music outfits?

    Different argument.

they’re nowhere near the Beatles technically but then few bands are / ever will be. No band will ever be as influential.

they traded in hyperbole and grandiose statements to sell records in the 90s , that’s all that was.

good Live songs there though. Cigs and alcohol, rock n roll star always gonna be there when live and a lot of the others work better live than some of their bigger hits. No complaints from me.

I don't think anyone is saying that Noel Gallagher is the most skilful and technically gifted musician of all time.

But he wrote some stunning songs.

    IMO of course.

Great writer, great singer, great songs. I just don't find them very likeable as people, the Phil Collins twins, as it were.

Have you seen them play slide away live made? Bring it on down, Talk tonight and Fade Away for that matter? All brilliant.

Agree with Hello and Cast No Shadow although if Noel sings that in acoustic set it will be good. I reckon they will play Stand by Me

I watched an Oasis concert on youtube last night from City of Manchester Stadium. Didn't realise the first gig was tonight in Cardiff. I thought they don't sound bad live for a reunion. They I realised in the end credits it was from 2005. I was thinking whilst watching it why aren't there any tracks from Dig Out your Soul. That was why :D.

Seen them 4 times live, Glastonbury 94, Maine Rd 96, Knebworth 96 and Earls Court 97.
That was the best of them IMO and they'll never capture those heady days back, Liam sadly struggles vocally and I can't see them having that ummpphh any longer.
The reunion was purely financially driven and we'd all do the same given the chance, good luck to them but it's nothing more than nostalgia now and for the younger generation, can't see any new music coming off the back of this tour and let's be honest there's some other cracking stuff around these days.

There lies the problem of having too many good songs so can't please all. I would have been happy hearing Liam sing Songbird or Little James :D

I went to those gigs but have continued to watch em, having seen Liam and Noel solo many times in the last 5 years. Liam still has the presence and persona. I get they are not what they were which was magical to me and many others in the 90s but they will still be outstanding gigs imho.

I'm sure they will, I've seen Liam a few times doing his stuff some of it was OK, Still think The Roses topped Oasis musically, having seen both in their prime they edged it, the late 80s and 90s was a great era, lucky enough to have probably seen close to 1000 bands.
