Can someone please tell me where all these empty barbers shops are? There's always a queue at mine.

There was an article in the Guardian where the police in some small town were investigating and found that some Turkish Barbers as well as a few convenience stores were acting as a front for black market activities - importing and selling illegal or substandard goods. Of course such activity has been going on for decades but has been greatly enhanced by the almost non-existent checking at British ports of goods imported via the EU since Brexit. The UK has become a smuggler's paradise and these shops are a cornerstone of that smuggling operation.

In 70s, Clarke down Wath used to sell 177 and 22 pellets for air rifle. If he asked you would you like something for the weekend sir? Yes, can I borrow the lawn mower.

I’ve had similar conversations with my dad about this, whilst none of us have any hard facts about these pop up shops, I’d have a guess that half of them are purely set ups to wash money……..Ive just read a book about how Eastern European gangland figures have pretty much sewn up much of the what happens in and around London so the amount of shops of this nature that open suggests to me that there a front of some sort

Most of them have the sames crown motif along with at least one of amusement arcades, so I presume all one firm anyway

I'm not suggesting anything of you specifically, but the only perspective I've seen/read on this specific issue is from Reform politicians.

Fair enough, but there is a very high number of these premises turned into barbers, I wouldn’t have thought it was boom time for haircuts when these days a lot of blokes do shave their own heads(or partner does) etc. Anyway if you naive enough to think there is nothing dodgy going off at these establishments then rock on pal

Some will be fronts, I'm not disputing that. I'd imagine there are several types of shop used as a front for illegal enterprises. Such as the 'stop smoking' charity in Hillsborough which was a front for a cannabis factory. Let's not pretend though that the likes of Nige and his pals are interested in combating money laundering operations, it's the word 'Turkish' that he's got an issue with. High Street barbers aren't as common as high street e-cig shops, which are also often empty. I wonder why he's not going after them.

Worth mentioning one of Farage's MPs has resigned the whip as he's to be investigated for fraudulently claiming covid loans.

Just for a bit of balance.

And yet again, I am not referring to you specifically. I am using the only reference point I have for this discussion. If you want, remove the word Nige from my posts if it makes it easier for you to understand.

If you like, I can ask you what specifically you have against 'Turkish barbers' over other businesses that are clearly a front for criminal activity.

This has taken a bit of a turn from the quite obvious joke I was making in the first instance.
