Girl, seven, ‘fought like hell’ and shielded others, parents tell Southport inquiry https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...ell-shielded-others-parents-southport-inquiry
Utterly shocking what she went through, stabbed 33 times. Utter respect to the NHS team that saved her life too.
No reason for knives to have sharp ends and no reason for the vast majority of people to have them in public. Should be 5 years prison sentence mandatory for carrying a knife in public without a clearly defined legal reason. 10 years if you use a knife to harass, threaten, or intimidate someone and 20 years MINIMUM if you use a knife to harm someone. Knives would be off the streets in no time if kids were actually scared of the consequences
So hope the lovely person gets done in prison. The country should have street parties if it happens and the perp a free pass. This axel **** boils my piss. Ive give anything to see him hurt badly.
Yes, let's release a load of crims back into society who are given permission to harm other humans without any form of accountability. Can you not see a problem with this? Rehabilitation, nah. He's in jail for life. Forget about him.
I understand your reaction to this but such a policy would mean we'd have to double our prison capacity. The country is strapped for cash and in reality, we need to reduce our prison population. We should be taking a lead from countries like Sweden and Holland who work to rehabilitate offenders and consequently have very low reoffending rates. Our reoffending rate (like that of the USA with a similar "lock 'em up" policy) is one of the worst in the civilised world. Prison just doesn't work - except in that the offenders are off the streets for a while.
Except it was a kitchen knife. Some of my kitchen knives have sharp ends and would be much less use if they had a rounded end You cant ban all things that can be dangerous if used wrongly its just not practical. Ive got a petrol driven chain saw -that could be used to kill or maim should it be illegal to possess that as well. I don't think there is a simple solution to prevent this sort of tragedy I wish there was. Sure its right to ban knives thats main purpose is as a weapon but you cant ban kitchen knives when millions of people use them everyday for their intended use because they are misused in a small number of cases. Back to the OP - that girl is incredible, I hope she eventually makes a full recovery mentally and physically though thats going to be tough and she and others will have scars for life. Regarding Amazon I agree they should be forced to stop selling all products that have age restrictions until they can show a process that makes this almost impossible. You cant buy a knife in a shop without proof of age and their are heavy penalties for any shops found to flout the law - it should be just the same for online sales
