I just don't know what to think! I'll just wait and watch him play and make my mind up then. I would say IF McGoldrick is still a good player its important we keep our better forward players (particularly DKD) so they can feed off him and feed him. The club must resist any bid for DKD as a short-term financial fix - it would be a false economy in the longer term. The squad needs strengthening not weakening. The board should be bold and hold their nerve even if it means they're still bankrolling the club. They'll lose more money long-term in any case if the best players leave as theyll have to plug the gap in a few months when the squad declines further. Selling DKD doesn't mean the need to pump money in is over. If we had 7/8 good players we could sell one or two. We haven't got many good players left.

 

Can't help thinking Mcgoldrick is DKD's replacement.

 

Good. Looking forward to him getting an injury early doors, and being announced as first team coach. While Andy Dallas and Max Watters fire in 10 goals between them.

 

Thats the thing, the worst case scenario barring injury he still gets more goals than watters or any of our strikers last season barring DKD

 

Is Andy Dallas still a thing? I'd kind of assumed it was a failed lab experiment that had now been decommissioned.

David McGoldrick - great playing record and just the experienced forward we need.
Richard Keogh is the same age - get your boots on Richard and there's the experienced defender we need.
Conor Hourihane is a few years younger - same applies above. Experienced midfielder we need.

See - football management is easy

 

We're in a right mess once again. We'll go into this season weaker than the last, which is now the trend. Pains me to say it but I believe we have a relegation battle on our hands this season.

I am reading these threads baffled and bemused. This is our best signing in years.

 

If that’s true, it begs the question why has he left as he made no secret he was going back ‘home’ when he signed for them & was the only reason he dropped down.

 

If he scores 10 goals and helps the other strikers improve it will prove to be an inspired signing.

 

It's what I've been trying to fathom. I can only assume the answer is Conor?

I'd sign for that handsome devil if he asked me to.

 

He also gives us quality until Jalo is fit and cover for DKD if we sell him at the last minute.
We've wasted far more money on plenty of players that never gave us the quality or options that he does.
