I thought Hourihane was going to be fighting fit when he first joined after a full season at League one level, that soon proved to be a false dawn...... Suppose it depends what promises McGoldrick has been sold.

Shame nobody told us that Conor had no intention of playing.

In his own words when he came back: " I can’t wait to join Darrell’s coaching staff and to get back to playing on Oakwell too. It feels like I am home.”

Conor had been brought in as a coach too, though. It seemed clear from his interviews that the opportunity to coach was the main motivator for him returning. We'll never know for sure whether it was his intention to play as little as he did. There's no mention whatsoever of McGoldrick doing any sort of coaching. We can only assume he's available for selection for as long as he stays fit. He looks in good shape for one.

McGoldrick on DKD, via Douglas O’Kane:

“He’s a great player. I spoke to Conor a lot about him before I signed. There are other good players as well but he will be vital for Barnsley this season.”

Good to hear that. I hope it was a condition of his signing that he got to play the whole season with DKD.

Indeed, nobody can get anymore injuries than Benson did lol.
But his goals records and injury records, do seem to be good.

Suppose when you think about it, had Notts County been promoted, McGoldrick would be playing in league one anyway.

Coming up with momentum and a 17 goal striker already proven at a higher level could have added them to the likes of Wrexham and Stockport, the former having its share of old heads.

Until he stops scoring, he is still a proven goal scorer, and not a tap in merchant either. Currently on a run of over 50 goals in 3 seasons.
