As a kid we had a day on the beach at Gt Yarmouth, and when putting my socks on at end of day there was one of the stripey little twohats in it. Got stung numerous times, the fecker.
Funny...I was going to start a thread on our stripy pests, asking if anyone was getting bothered by them this year. Last year none at all....this year out in vengence...ruins our bbqs they do....but there is answer )off youtube or something....so old empty butter tub...half a cup of sugar....half a cup of cider vinegar...half a cup of water and a few acquires of washing up liquid. Your welcome!
Get a hydrocortisone patch on it. I had a mosquito bite that went really bad and was getting bigger every day for a week but slapped one of those on it and it cleared up really quickly.
Daughter was stung yesterday for the 1st time, she's 27 and allergic to everything so it was a quick race to find her epipen. Luckily not required
I average about 10-20 bee stings a year, and the reaction to them varies hugely depending on where I get stung. Only ever had one wasp sting, as a 2-3 year old, when I tried to stroke one (following the logical conclusion of being told to stroke dogs and cats at an early age). As others have said, anti-histamines are the first course of treatment to go for.
Best method is...take a sharp knife, preferably a large hunting or combat knife...dig a large hole in the skin and pop the sting out, take a 9mm pistol round and pull the bullet out with your teeth...pour the powder from the cartridge into the wound and set light to it with a zippo...wrap the wound with a dirty, sweat stained bandana....job done....now I've never done it myself but it works on Netflix.
My 4 year old stood on a bee in Turkey last month. Wouldn’t be surprised if you heard the screams in Yorkshire. She’s not as tough as her dad
Our rural wasps seem to have appeared during this week mostly replacing the flies coming into the house. The good thing about wasps though is that they are fairly slow fliers so are easy to whack with my zapper. This only knocks them to the ground though as they can withstand the shock whereas the flies stick to the electric elements and are fried quickly. Some days I’m killing a dozen or so wasps so they’re obviously buzzing around in great numbers. Not been stung by one but I’m certainly getting it from the tiny black flies and horse flies. I must have 40-50 bites from upper arms down to my ankles. Looking forward to the cold weather returning.
