Hi all, I’ve been in touch with Julian Germain, who is working on the Barnsley FC Visual History book. He’s asked for the forum’s help in tracking down a photographer named Brian Armstrong, who took some fantastic photos from behind the dugout at Oakwell—specifically from games like Barnsley v Newcastle, 1981–82. Some of these images appear on Andy Horsfield’s Flickr, but Julian is keen to: • a) Track down the original versions, and • b) Get permission to use them in the book. If anyone knows Brian Armstrong, or has any leads on how to contact him, please let me know here or drop me a message. For more information about the project, you can visit: https://www.peoplesvisualhistory.com/ Thanks in advance for any help! Gally
The originals are 5"x3" prints, sadly I don't have the negatives. I've scanned most of them and can email them to Julian. I'm on holiday in Denmark at the moment but I'll get my prints down from the loft and see if there are any more when we get home.
Brilliant. I probably should have known lol but Im terrible with remembering peoples names (and faces). I’ll send you his details.
I had a catch up with Julian the other day. The project is looking superb. He's a top man and his research work and photographs, together with the support of all who have contributed is testimony not only to those involved, but also to our wonderful football cub and its very rich history. It's something many have got behind to support so far and it should be one of the few things we can all get behind with no negativity.
