Not summat I get these days, but I remember when Clarke took over in 1978 how giddy my mates and myself were. This continued up to the 82/83 season.

After that... nothing! Until, strangely, Machin went on a spending spree in 1990.

Funnily enough the pre-Premier season didn't stir much emotion. And certainly since then I've rarely got giddy.

    Age thing maybe?

Nowt wrong with getting giddy when there's summat to get giddy about. Nowadays I approach anything BFC with trepidation, fear, disbelief and meh. It'll take summat to get me giddy again. Mind you if Barnsley end up being Champions League winners by 2030 I might allow myself a brief window of giddiness.

No I'm not looking forward to it at all, and I'm keeping the expectations low.

I'm giddy, my aunt is giddy too. I always am when the season is due to start. It's the 9 months after that will probably cause the misery.

I don't read too much into pre seasons didn't we lose nearly all then get promoted to the prem under wilson?

I am definitely excited, first season ticket of my life and a club legend in charge.

Finally abandoning wing backs, giving academy players a chance and playing football I actually want to watch.

No idea how well we are going to do but under Clarke and Collins we could have got promoted and I still wouldn't have been excited because the football was dire. Looking forward to enjoying watching the Reds again!

Funny thing is, I was so optimistic before the start of the 96/97 season where we got promoted. I thought we had brought in some genuinely exciting players and when we opened the season with a win at West Brom, where we really looked the part, I knew we could be onto something. After 5 games and 5 wins, I started a spreadsheet chart, charting our league position and pinned it on the wall at work, updating it every week, and it was pretty much a straight line.

And didn't we win all of the games during one pre season, including a 0-5 win at Scunny.
But then look at what happened under mad Keef lol.

I’m never giddy for the new season. I love the spring and summer. Nice to go to the first few games when it’s cracking the flags, but the dark nights and cold weather soon follow:

Talking to some drivers at work recently, who are fans of Bradford and Wigan and Stockport etc.
They're all really up for it and excited, and obviously confident.
Then there's me telling them just how fed up I am, about my team Barnsley.

It's either going work, or they'll sack Hourihane by November. If they do, their loss not Conors

They have put themselves in a difficult situation now because if they were to sack Conor at any point, I don't think many fans would support their decision.

Bradford will do well not to go straight back down honestly. Doncaster and Port Vale look far stronger out of all the promoted sides.

I think Bradford have got the momentum and all, and should avoid a struggle at least.
But then again, I thought Carlisle would do the same a few years ago, and look whats happened to them since!.

I was at that game at the Hawthorns.
Im sure there were 5 new players i hadn't seen before.
A certain 4foot six little lad up front ,ran em to bits.
    Marcelle.
    The score flattered them.
The Albion fans all asking who was the little lad up front for you,my god what a player.
When we beat Port Vale in the opener 7 0.
It was nothing like the win at West Brom.
I was very very giddy that Saurday driving home with the 2 young uns.
