I like the comment in the report, had an offer rejected by the "ex Premier League team"

 

That's probably a more accurate analysis than mine, but I still think that results in us being way too exposed if Russell is the holding midfield player. It's fine if we're in the ascendancy, if we're the much better team, but not if we're under pressure, and it's a disaster if we're caught on the break.

 

A subsequent edition said the deal had hit a snag.

Now reports online that Wycombe are set to sign a different midfielder from Belgian top flight.

Could be one they want along with Connell, or possibly could see the end of their Connell interest.

 

Don't think Connell would have played on Saturday if any kind of deal was imminent.

 

Do you honestly think we'd have let him play for us on the 12th be captain and risk getting injured. Luca may also well have. rejected a move to them.
I'm not saying a deal can't be done with them but accepting an offer is not the be all and end all. And the fact we played him Saturday suggests it's not a done deal financially.

Even if we did have an offer accepted. Could well be summat else cropped up, on the transfer front involving other players. Not over till the fat lady sings as they say.

 

Wycombe have just signed ex celtic and hibs midfielder Ewan Henderson from Belgian league, energetic midfielder.
I reckon that might be an end to their interest in Connell.

 

It's difficult striking the right balance between turning over your squad and getting good value.

The problem if we aren't able to get decent value for Connell, we have to sell other decent players for good money instead. And there aren't many to choose from.

 

It could well be the case, of course, that Connell does not find signing for Wycombe an attractive proposition and has turned down a chance to move there. It would be a sideways move, at best, certainly from a status point of view. We have no indication at all that he is unhappy at Oakwell. If a Championship club came in for him, that could be a different matter.

 

If we're doing unfounded speculation, he might really not like sitting down and therefore be put off by their nickname.

If Chaise Longue Albion make an approach however, that could be a different matter.

 

Ewan Henderson is a tidy footballer but a little lightweight hence he's been playing in Belgium.

I'll be very surprised if they've signed him instead of Connell.

Good ,we're better with him than without.
However if a silly offer comes in for any of our players,we're not in a financial position to say no.
If we could just get another proper good defender in our squad.
At the moment we should be looking for a top six.

 

The ones we’re likely to lose are DKD and/or Russell. Take those two away and we’re nowhere near top six.
Still need a right back and pacy centre half too.

 

The club gone silent since Saturday afternoon

 

That is why im hoping we can hold on to them,pacy defender could be Shep.
Another solid defender in ,we're in good shape.
But like you say radio silence from the club.
Doesn't fill us with any optimism .
Wonder how many season tickets we have sold ?
