Same fans who don't like us using spreadsheets/stats to sign players then judge players based on stats before they have kicked a ball for us. The mind boggles.. Look at some videos of Vickers playing and then you'll realise why we are interested. End product could do with some work but his dribbling and ability to go past players will create us numerous opportunities. He was being linked to Real Madrid and Arsenal not long ago for a reason.
As one of the rose-tinted spectacled people on this board, I have to say I’m disappointed with this window, so far. I’m just waiting for the “We’ll go with what we’ve got” speech.
Was hoping we’d get Tovide. Disappointing window yet again by looks of things. Relying on Shepherd shoring up one of worst back lines in L1 and hoping that McGoldrick’s legs hold for another year to boost forward line when DKD likely leaves. Signed one winger with limited experience in the National League when Conor has said we’re going to play with wingers, plus we look to be going with a failed centre half at right back. Uninspiring to date….with little more than 2 weeks to go.
It’s disappointing so far I have to admit, not sure DKD will go myself if we are holding out for 5 million.
We are holding out for 5 million for now. If it becomes clear we won't get that amount we will probably hold out for less
£3m and he’ll be gone. Parekh said we had to sell and so far no one has gone. Connell wouldn’t fetch more than £1.5m, Russell similar as he’s only a year left and Phillips’s poor form means no one wants him.
The proof is in the pudding, but this was reported last week in the Chronicle. Keillor-Dunn will cost any potential suitor more than £5m, according to the latest update from The Barnsley Chronicle, and Hourihane's side will not budge on this valuation, as they look to deter interest in their star man. In fairness, we've said for a number of years that we'd only sell players if clubs met their valuation, and I think that much has always been true. I guess it's partly why the losses are what they are, having previously had offers for players which we've held onto and subsequently lost on a free.
With just over two weeks to go its looking likely that we’ll start our first game with at least three of last season’s defenders playing in a back four which is a scary prospect. At the minute we look barely mid table material.
Well in my opinion we look in good shape looking at the Squad as it is. If Keogh can get the defence sorted we could be up there challenging.
That's only because Ogbeta is ineligible though. Shepherd will be a big help at the back too so I don't think it's as bad as you're saying. Plus it was as much of a fitness issue as it was a defensive issue last season with most goals being conceded later on in games. If Conor has got them much fitter that will make a big difference.
I have serious doubts about our defence mate, seems like we are pinning a lot hope in young Shepherd, unproven at this level, hope he his the real deal but I would like another centre half in tbh and get rid of some of our deadwood defenders
Agreed, I think improving fitness levels will make a much bigger difference than people are realising. I think a right back is a priority but after that the defence is sorted imo
Well if the stats are correct. Im sure I saw somewhere at the 60minutes into all our games we were in the top 4 . Certainly suggests our fitness wasn't up to scratch. And someone told me ,that Robbo ,quoted the training sessions were no where near as tough as when he was at Brum. And he brought this up with the head coach.
If only Jordan Williams was still around. Got loads of stick off BFC fans. Be careful what you wish for.
Agree that better fitness levels should make a difference but no way with this defence as it stands will we be able to challenge for top six , we’ve got lofthouse, okeefe and Degiveny who can play right back so until someone leaves i don’t think we’ll be allowed to bring another one in.
