We need to make our minds up as fans. We (myself included) have criticised the academy set up as being underutilised. Now we have players in and around the first team from the academy and we seem to be hell bent on writing them off. The Jonathan Bland I saw against Man U U21's wouldn't have gotten into Athersley Rec's side. The one I saw at Reading, in a poor team by the way, looked every inch a L1 player. Give him a chance! We have to put faith in these lads for them to flourish. We cant slate the academy for not producing players, then cry like big babies when they produce players! They might turn out eventually to not make the grade. Unless we give them the opportunity, we'll never know. Personally I'm excited to see Bland, Barratt, Yoganathan, Jalo etc. What the Club needs to do is supplement these lads with quality and experience to bring them on in the right way. A bit of dead wood out (easier said than done, I know) and some more experience and guile fetched in, I think we'll have a good season. As a fan base we really do need to alter our pessimism and doubt. We're just going to manifest it with our negativity. COYR!
According to tomorrow's edition of the Chron. Wycombe have nowhere reached Barnsleys valuation of luca. And quotes of £1.3m way off the mark. Deals are In advanced stages for others coming in, next week or so also in the pipeline. Looking at all positions.
The club needs to re-assess where it's at and be up front with supporters. Mentioned it before: If the club came out and said we're going to utilise youth and the academy and try to rebuild in League 2/ National League. I'd be ******* devastated but it would be an informed choice where I spend my money. As it stands now they're pissing up my back. That's what hurts.
Only feeding back what's reported. Up to you to believe the chron or not. (Bear in mind Doug will have more contact with the club than I imagine a journo from the Wycombe end.) As allus time will tell. All bids have been turned down as reported last week. And nothing has been offered approaching the £1.3m mentioned. I have no idea as to Barnsleys valuation. He has 3 yrs left on his contract.
Due to Luca having such a contract left, I wonder if we're aiming for about £1.75 mill, or more. And by the looks of it, Wycombe aren't going to pay anything like that amount!. And what does Luca himself think, I've wondered if he does actually want to leave.
I expected this to be over with them after the 2 new CMs they added in last week or two but clearly not. How many midfielders does one club need aha?
As a club, we have no right to criticise clubs for signing too many for a position. Was it 11 or 13 forwards we totted up a few years ago? 9 possible no 10's when we got Stevie Mallan?
It wasn't us that chose to add all those forwards it was our daft board, I'm sure most of us sensible fans moaned about it then as well.
Need to be pushing the asking price up further now it’s getting closer to the start of the season for the inconvenience of finding his replacement at short notice etc
