Nicknames often stick amongst us males. I've got loads of mates that are always called by their nickname, Bub, Scon, Hawk, Daffy, Turbo, we're in our 50s.
Hard to judge against inferior opposition who were over reliant on clogging us whenever the referee let them get away with it. There was plenty to applaud though, right through the team
Hope we do the same to York on Tuesday and that we don’t have players on the treatment table after today. NF looked a bad one and he left the pitch very slowly but at least he was walking. Several others were on the end of some agricultural tackling so fingers crossed they’re ok
I’m pleased we’ve won to instil a bit of confidence and we sound like we’ve put on a decent show against much lower opposition. It’s a bit of a worry we played a team of cloggers so close to the season starting though. Hopefully nothing but a few bruises.
Well I assumed no one else would do anything and it was no trouble. I could have written more but I didn’t want to miss any of our good play. I was chatting to a home fan in the seats behind me and that was interesting as well. I didn’t mind being across the other side from our very healthy following which was over 850 in a 2,261 crowd
3 cracking goals but we looked weak at the back on the right hand side early on with MDG getting pulled out of position and leaving Harrogate forwards way too much space. Enjoyed the game though some good stuff mixed with some bits not so good. A good work out though ( Hgte got away with too much dirty stuff for a friendly). For me it also showed how important it is that we strengthen with decent players
Just got back. Some decent stuff played and three great goals but 20 minutes at end of first half we were all over at the back. Harrogate really should’ve scored a couple in that period and most L1 sides would’ve. MDG is not a right back….just as I feared. Only one game I know but looked poor against weak opposition.
I was 's**t boy' whilst at uni. The worst thing is, if someone ever shouted ' s**t', I'd turn around like I was being summoned. I also scored a screamer in a game for the Uni team, and the people watching started chanting "You're S**t, and you know you are'. Better times
Just got back. We were pretty good apart from a bit of a lull of 20 minutes in the middle of the first half when Russell and Shepherd gifted them opportunities from slack passing. Of the new boys, Cooper didnt have much to do but he is a confident presence and looks properly focussed on the task, I like the look of him; Ogbetta didnt have too much to do defensively but was pretty ordinary going forward, Cleary came on at half time and had a couple of good moments but, like Ferrugia, looked like he couldnt beat anyone on the outside because he was always having to cut in on to his stronger foot. McGoldrick was great, tremendous fibish and touch and hold up play just light years ahead of the tripe we have had to suffer from the gimps that have left us this summer. Shepherd, apart from the one error looked really confident and accomplished. Someone described Bland on here as 'steady' but that didnt really do him justice for me, thought he had a good game. The Ferrugia incident happened right in front of us and it looked horrible, he absolutely clattered into the metal hoardings at full speed and got a nasty cut. They made a few really poor challenges at times. Harrogate one of the worst professional sides i've ever seen and i'll be surprised if they're not somewhere near the bottom two. Saw loads of Conference sides better than them last year.
" I was 's**t boy' whilst at uni." Most nicknames have a bit of a story to them....are you going to share it?
I'm going to York tuesday neight, if anybody in Brid wants a lift ler us know, leaving abart 5 to 5.30.
