What do you mean by this mate? We always have lots of loans. As do most clubs in the lower leagues. I dont really care what they are if they put us onto a better footing. Only seen him play twice so can't really judge, but has some exciting reviews. Fingers crossed! Keep up the good work BFC, hopefully more to follow soon.
He excelled there though so wouldn't be upset if he continued there. I would love see a permanent though, preferably Tovide, come in as a striker too. Then we can rotate DKD between positions if we need to. I thought the club might have stuck the knife in conor and 'forced' him to play DKD there again as to generate potentially more money, but fair play if that's not the case.
Perhaps loans are considered lower risk than bloating the squad with permanent signings not up to standard. Mladen may have been given a directive to prove he can pick a signing before they release any more cash for signings.
Where would you play him then mate ? It sounds like we are going 4-3-3 I'm assuming Philips will start as will Russell with Connell DM So I guess DKD would have to be RF, LF or CF ? I would say out of those 3 , he will be most effective CF ? I could be totally wrong but that’s the way I see it or perhaps he would rotate DKD, Philips and Russell in the ‘hole’ (don’t start ) but that would seem like a waste of one of our better players … I do agree we still need a striker btw but I think RB is more important
Class signing, more excited by him than I was at the prospect of Koroma and I reckon he's an upgrade on Humphrys.
Wouldn't be suprised to see us play 4213 with DKD behind McGoldrick, gives us lots of flexability to be a 4411 out of possesion, certainly the bits I've seen of us in pre season we look to transition very quickly 3 or 4 passes and we are in the final 3rd. Cooper New RB Roberts Shepherd Ogbeta Connell Russell DKD Cleary McGoldrick Vickers
Good signing but not sure on positions. Happy to be corrected but don't Farrugia, DKD, Cleary and now this lad favour the left side while Cotter (gone). O'keefe (gone). Lofthouse ( going?) Jalo (out) Phillips (going?) favour the right. ..as I said I may have misunderstood but with MDG at RB it looks a bit unbalanced...New RB next pls.
Historically Farrugia was a right winger, and Reyes Cleary is right footed so probably flexible. I can see us playing a 4-2-3-1 with DKD in the hole, McGoldrick up top, and two wingers; or a 4-3-3 with DKD one of the advanced midfielders rather than in the front three. Suspect at least one of Connell, Russell, or Phillips will move on, so less competition for central midfielder positions. If Phillips stays he could be on the right wing.
Kevin Long too, until he was recalled. I’m not a fan of having a lot of loanee players, but considering we are just coming to the end of a three to four year period of suffering the likes of Cosgrove, O’Keeffe, Watters and - even though I rated him - Benson on long term contracts, combined with the club’s well publicised financial issues, I guess we are where we are. On paper, Vickers looks another promising addition. As others point out, let’s hope there’s a right back following him into Oakwell shortly. And then, whilst still in need of a few more for me, it’s starting to look like a squad capable of at least the top ten.
Squad seems to be coming together a bit more now. Still need a right back and a striker - hopefully permanent deals! Good to see some wingers in, feels retro somehow. Vickers, Cleary and Jalo for those spots, maybe Farrugia too? Mcgoldrick up front, DKD behind. Not sure who our backup there is - maybe Dallas actually should hang around this time to be 3rd/ 4th choice.
