Thought his goal celebration last night was way over the top.
All that dancing, somersaults and the slapping of the post made me think, come on Adam, it was only a friendly.
Calm down, you'll do yourself an injury, before the season starts.

Cos they're fu***d! Nowt to do with age at all, just fu****ness!
As to McGoldrick, some people on here slagged him off as soon as he signed. Fair enough, but if he turns out to be good for us at this level it would be nice if they all came back on and said 'I got that wrong'. Mind you, if he's kak in the league....

My concern is if we’re asking a 38 year old (which he’ll be for most of the season) carry our front line on his own, which is supposedly to play high energy football.

That just doesn’t make sense to me.

I hope he can carry the workload one league up.

Either minted or don't look after themselves.

Isn't DKD playing 'up front' with him?

Who knows. Obviously we have to keep him first.

Of course it's related to age.

I’m guessing a combination of: it being a very restrictive lifestyle and wanting to live a more relaxed life eating and drinking how they want not having to keep as fit etc. after 20 years of it; having a family and wanting to spend more time being a husband and dad rather than travelling to away games, late nights etc.; not being as good as they once were and struggling to deal with that mentally, especially as younger, fitter players come along; not really fitting in with the younger lads and just feeling a bit out of place. I don’t think the physical side is the entire reason players retire but that very few of them have the willpower and desire to keep themselves fit and the precedent sets expectations once you hit early to mid 30s, the contracts will dry up or get less desirable. I reckon it being a harder job for less money and less stability probably pushes a lot of people into retiring far earlier than some of them necessarily need to.

Agree with this. I just can't imagine he'll be up to the rigours of a full season of high intensity football. Again, the depth up front worries me and we still don't really seem to have addressed our defensive frailties.

Ironic our 34 year old head coach has put his faith in a 38 year old after feeling the rigours of the game catching up with him last season.

If I had looked after myself, less drink etc I could have played until I was 24. However Friday night 5-a-side does take its toll.
